Lovely hotel and a very pleasant stay, staff were excellent. Only slight complaint is the advertisment stating breakfast included - it is, but only a Continental. Upgrade is available, but for the price we paid a cooked breakfast isn't much to ask for.

With 5-star hotels there's an expectation of quality and attention to detail or, where things do go awry, they are sorted quickly, efficiently, and not repeated, This hotel fell way short of the mark on all of these criteria on our three-night mid-week break. Where expectations were not met: 1) Disposition of the front-desk staff. Morose and unwelcoming - it wouldn't hurt them to crack a smile or say "good morning"; 2) Our room keys stopped working on two consecutive days. Apparently they'd been set up incorrectly on check-in. Once was a mistake. Twice was inept; 3) We had to ask for milk, tea-bags, water to be replenished - not done as part of room servicing; 4) We had to ask, at 3pm, for our room to be serviced; 5) We were billed for the continental breakfast despite inclusion in the room rate. It was deducted from the final bill but shouldn’t have been on there anyhow - told it's a "system thing". 6) For a much-advertised mid-week break why is the spa routinely closed on two weekdays. Where expectations were met or exceeded: 7) Exceptional door and restaurant staff - friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Perhaps they could train the front-desk staff. 8) Location - great for city sight-seeing; 9) Quality of continental breakfast; 10) Most of the spa facilities A school report might shorten this to "must try harder" or "careless, could do better" or. Or both. As it stands, the Grosvenor doesn't deserve 5 stars, either in a review or as a hotel.

Great hotel
We had a brilliant stay - the service and breakfast were excellent. The room was beautiful but the bathroom was a little dated and probably needs to be upgraded. Overall thoroughly satisfied with our night away.

Great attentive service. However, not overly impressed with suite as it was cold in temperature even though heating was set to maximum correctly and room didn’t feel cosy although bed was very comfortable. The TV was not really working properly maybe this was interference with next room. No toiletry freebies. I’ve stayed at Grosvenor in past and tried all rooms but overall I’d choose the classic room if ever staying here again as the suite just offers more space but classic rooms are more comfortable and warmer in my opinion. Great service and attention by all staff and accommodating in letting you store luggage after checking out.

It really is a truly breathtaking hotel, the room was gorgeous with such a comfortable bed with top quality linen, the only issue was breakfast, we were forgotten about had to ask for our toast to be brought out after around half a hour, we then waited a hour for the hot breakfast to come out, there were many other people also complaining, got back to our room eventually to find we had been locked out so a phone call to reception to then sort out, no major issue but when you are paying for a quality luxury hotel it's just a bit of a letdown.

The hotel itself is stunning. The chaps helping with luggage and car park were awesome. Comfortable rooms. Convenient to everything. Only wish we could have been there longer!

Very nice but I expected more from the room
The main hotel, bars, restaurants and communal areas were lovely. However for what is a five star hotel the room we had was a deluxe room and just felt very tired. The ventilation intake in the reception area was coming away from the ceiling, some of the doors and skirting boards had chip marks on them. There was some pastas left on the floor behind the hall way door that was missed from the previous guest. Also the bath looked as though it had been painted at some point and there were several areas on the bath where, what looked like paint, had come away exposing the original colour underneath. Other than that all of the staff were very welcoming and very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us and all the other areas of the hotel were very nice

I was disappointed to be honest the last time I went it was free parking by the concierge that’s no more it’s £20 a day Or park yourself for £10 day no cooked breakfast unless you pay ( we paid almost £500 for 2 night so would have thought a hot breakfast would be included as it used to be but for me not able to get a drink and sit in the lounge was dreadful how can you not have room for your paying guests to sit and have a drink

Disappointing stay
This hotel is over priced for what it is. Although obviously is a classic hotel, it still needs modernising to bring it up to the 21st century rather than being stuck in the 1990ies. They can well afford to do so on the prices they charge. The decor is tired, and the carpets stained. Their bar service was extremely slow considering there were 5 bar tenders and only slightly more customers, and their breakfast was a huge disappointment-I have not been anywhere where the cooked breakfast is at a £12 per person supplement and the continental is table service only with a few danishes, cereal/porridge and toast. At the price they charge they could well afford to have a continental buffet with the meats/cheeses etc which other cheaper hotels offer.

This hotel has the wow factor, they made us feel so welcome and special from the moment we walked in. I had booked a room for my wife’s birthday and they had left complementary cake and a welcome note to wish her a happy birthday in the room. Nothing was too much trouble. This is definitely a five star hotel and the level of service goes above beyond any expectations. Thank you for an amazing experience.
