Bank Holiday Break

Posted 05-Jun-2014 on Hotels.com
Hotel very comfortable and in a great location for excursions to North Wales, Chester and surrounding area. Breakfast was okay, a good selection of hot and cold buffet. Bar meal a bit pricey and over rated. Staff were a bit curt, straight faced and not very welcoming. Although we did not use the spa facility, it looked quite inviting with a small pool, well equipped gym and sauna.

Great service, friendly staff, excellent food

Posted 25-May-2014
Pros: Food, service, friendly staff, wifi in rooms, size of rooms, facilities available.
Cons: The "art" in the garden was strange and not in keeping.
Location: Country feel, peaceful, down a lane, but close to other pubs, hotels, interesting buildings and handy for Wrexham.
We were not expecting much, and what a pleasant surprise. The hotel is well located, close to Wrexham, and yet up a country lane surrounded by green gardens and fields. The sound of birds and peaceful atmosphere was lovely on a warm Summer's evening, especially with terraces and gardens to sit in. The staff were exceptionally friendly and more professional than many 5 star top rated hotels we have stayed in. The room was extremely large, and very comfortable. The decor has been updated although it is a little less than interior designed and a little dated in taste. Somehow this did not take away from the charm of the place. I liked the uniqueness of the hotel, this is not just another corporate hotel room. There is a "spa" - small pool and gym, peaceful and adequate, not in the luxury market but again rather quaint and perfectly good. The restaurant and bar offered outstanding food, fresh, appropriate menu selection, well selected taste combinations, without being pretentious. The chef even produced handbaked cheese biscuits. Well above the usual hotel restaurant offering and not far off michelin star quality. Service again was excellent and despite the restaurant being full and eating in the bar one evening we were looked after with first rate care and attention. Wifi in the room at no extra charge was exactly as it should be. All round caring, friendly, great service, excellent food, good location with a family feel.

I would love to know!

Posted 23-May-2014 on Hotels.com
I was called by the hotel about 30 mins before my planned arrival to inform me that there was an over booking on the hotel and that they could not accommodate me. They therefore moved me to Chester.

Pros: Got to room ready early
Cons: The rest of it ! need to emply staff that KNow about how to run Hotel and yes I can say that I have used to run The Grand IN Brighton!
Location: Chester - Loads!
They got the room ready for us which was great but after that it was all down hill! Bathroom floor dirty, lights inop, bulbs missing, no hot water, lwft waiting for service, breakfast undercooked and cold, toaster kept cutting out and when did work did not toast bread! - Overall having stayed in Hotels all over the country I was extremely dissapointed and have left feeling that Best Western - is a perfect name !!! Cowboys! WILL NOT BE STAYING AT ONE AGAIN

Ok Hotel , some nice parts, Room for improvement

Posted 02-Apr-2014 on Hotels.com
Generally ok stay, pleasant small bar and lounge. Nice grounds.Rooms are a little dated, small TV faulty remote. Gym ok - small-medium size but water was pooring in from room and just dripping all over the floor, they weren't aware thus notified them. Gym & pool could do with being freshend up.Generally hotel needs money spent on it, it has potential.

Wedding

Posted 25-Mar-2014
Pros: Very attentive staff.
Cons: Can't think of anything.
Location: Site was attractive, lovely for post-wedding photos. We did not visit anywhere else as we were busy with the wedding.
We stayed two nights for a family wedding. Reception was very well organised with attentive staff.Despite the very noisy music in the dance hall after the reception our room almost directly above was really quiet. How do they do that? The only criticism was that although we had booked bed and breakfast each day it hadn't been entered in the hotel computer as such and this happened to two others in our party.Breakfast was good with choice of continental or English with fruits and yogurts, juice and tea and coffee. Shower was good and powerful though the bath would have been too slippery for me without my own shower mat!Bar area good though the draught beers were not very inspiring.

Convenient stopover, excellent meals, lovely pool

Posted 09-Sep-2013
Pros: The hotel was set in lovely grounds and was perfect for a stopover in quiet countryside.
Cons: The bedroom we stayed in was getting tired and the bathroom needed some tlc. The bed was very comfortable.
Location: 3 miles from Wrexham with Erddig close by - need a whole day to see the Hall and all the grounds and outbuildings.
Easy to find from South, but we came in by Sat Nav from the North and had to guess which way on lane in. The hotel grounds are full of statues and lovely old trees. The hotel has a good restaurant menu and a bar menu. We chose a la carte and were pleasantly surprised. There is a lovely pool and other leisure facilities and Spa treats.
