“Very nice. I can't wait to go back.”

My plane landed early in the morning on a Sunday, and it was about 10:30am when I got to the hotel. At first they told me that I couldn't check in until 3pm, but I was welcome to leave my luggage and wander around the town center until 3. I told them the website mentions early check in at noon on weekends, and then I was told that for a fee I could check in early. Well worth the money after traveling for 15 hours. I paid it and got my room immediately. The room was clean. The color scheme made it a bit dark, but that isn't much of an issue. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They answered all of my questions about places to see and shop. The pub and the Verve restaurant had good food, but the restaurant was a little expensive. I did not try the Vibe cafe. I did go across the street to the Waterside. They also had good food that was a bit cheaper. Breakfast was included with my room. You have to go early if you want the good stuff, though. The pastries and fruit run out fast. The train station was walking distance from the hotel. The town center is also close by. There are lots of places to eat in the town center, but I mainly ate at the hotel. All in all, it was a good trip, and I plan to stay at the same hotel when I go back in April.

i love staying at this hotel and have stayed here many times. sadly on 2 occasions this year the food has been poor, very poor. we had our works christmas party night and the food was dreadful, as a chef i understand catering for large numbers can be challenging but there is no excuse for serving soup was like dishwater. the main meal wasnt much better. i also stayed new year and that was just as bad. lovely hotel sack the chef!!!

Good hotel with decent facilities in sauna, pool, etc. Stayed over Xmas for 13 nights and enjoyed the whole experience - Xmas lunch good if a little over-priced. The bar serves very good food at a reasonable price for a hotel. The other plus points would be the free WiFi internet and good parking. The one BIG gripe is paying £1.00 delivery" charge per day for the newspaper, even if collected from the front desk. Come on DeVere - wake up and take this rediculous charge away which spoils an otherwise decent place!!!

“Good but could be better!”

The Village room was very quiet and the beds are really comfy. However, a few touches would make the stay better, simply putting some hooks in the bathroom and an extra towel rail would have made our stay much better. Tissues also would be a nice touch - and MORE LIGHT the rooms are far too dark and ridiculous trying to put makeup on anywhere! The staff were very helpful especially the housekeeping and the room was clean. Very few channels on the tv. Overall though I would recommend the Village.

Staff were friendly and that was the ONLY good point apart from the bed being comfortable. However, that was really of no use seeing as it was so loud you couldn't even sleep. You cannot control people talking or whatever but music playing after midnight which I could hear in my room on the 2nd floor, and hearing people walking past the room talking in the corridor every 10 minutes waking you up, doors banging (cause they don't close without banging them)... provide a hotel with good sound insulation!! They were more concerned with people having fun i.e. drinking loads, partying with loud music (therefore spending their money) than people actually getting a good night's rest. Aweful, aweful experience. The food was also terrible - even having chosen a 'special' from the menu. When I asked to speak to a manager the lady on the front desk asked me to wait a minute while she checked if she was the manager on duty!! Crazy!
