“Questionable as to whether it is worth the money”
We decided to treat ourselves for our last night in Chengdu and book into Shangri La which was highly recommended on tripadvisor. Despite the hotel only opening in 2007, the walls of our hotel room were cracked and the view was over a wasteland. Shangri La Chengdu was more expensive than other Shangri La's we have stayed at in Asia. I would greatly recommend Buddah Zen over this hotel any day. It was half the price, breakfast was included and the location next to Wenshu Temple is much better (although no night life).

I had an excellent time at this hotel. The facilities including the piano bar, swimming pool and 3 restaurants were great. The location was convenient to shopping and tourist activities. The staff was very accommodating and English was spoken by most on duty. The view from our 16th floor room was quite nice especially at night with the glow of the city lights below. The view during the day was not so great due to the smog. I can't holed that against the hotel, obviously!
