“" A Wonderful 5 Star Hotel experience"”

We stayed at the Millennium Chengdu for 4 nights in a Club room. It was an excellent rate and included a complimentary breakfast, free internet, snacks and evening drinks. The room was tastefully decorated with a luxurious marble bathroom which had plenty of storage for toiletries and sundries. The only complaint I can make is the insufficient lighting in the bathroom which seems to be a common problem in hotels and the unsatisfactory cleaning of the bath tub. The air conditioning worked beautifully and we were able to reduce the temperature and sleep under the down duvet. Most hotels provide a duvet and overheated rooms creating a very uncomfortable nights' sleep. Breakfast was fairly limited but adequate, with no fruit juice offered, served on the club floor. The staff was very attentive and the concierge supervisor went beyond the call of duty. He helped us navigate Chengdu's restaurants, opera, taxis and sightseeing with his ability to speak English and our total lack of Mandarin. He even took our cash to the theatre in his own time to secure our seats for the Sichuan Opera performance that night. He is worth his weight in gold and our Chengdu experience could have been extremely stressful without his generous and willing assistance. I think he'll probably be hotel manager next time we visit Millennium Chengdu! This is a true five star hotel which we would thoroughly recommend.

Area recommendations

It is difficult to say the best area because the "must do" sights are in different parts of the city. The Millennium is away from the City Centre and although taxis are extremely cheap it is very stressful getting around this congested city. However, it is closer to the Airport than hotels closer to the Centre. Wherever you stay you are going to have to brave the traffic in a taxi, that's the nature of the city. Millennium was such a positive experience we still believe we made the best choice.

“Great Place to Stay”

As stated above, the hotel was most excellent! Breakefast was over-priced if it was not part of the package, however.

“millenium chengdu”

PERFECT. This hotel was brand spanking new. So new, that my taxi driver did not know where it was, even with the map that I gave him (could be a huge problem for non mandarin speaker in a new part of China), but a quick call to the hotel and he was set with directions. My fllight was severely delayed, so I arrived extremely late, but the staff did not miss a beat, very courteous, got me into my room in record time. VEry comfortable, well-designed and appointed, but must admit room was slightly on the small side. Rooftop pool was incredible!!! Can't comment on location much, as I was in and out of there. Located right between airport and downtown; was very convenient to airport.
