The easternmost Balearic island dances to a different tune than its rowdier neighbours. This tranquil haven boasts sparkling blue seas, white- and golden-sand beaches that are blessed by warming sunshine for the vast majority of the year.
Its coastal cities are full of distinctive character, its resorts family-friendly and low-key and, if you head for the interior, you’ll discover a refreshingly rural island. Menorca’s landscapes are distinguished by 40,000 miles of dry-stone walls that criss-cross its fields, traverse its rolling hills and demarcate its whitewashed villages.
In 1993, Unesco declared Menorca a Biosphere Reserve to preserve its important environmental areas and its mysterious Bronze Age sites.
Today there are plenty of cheap flights to be found to discover the beauty of Menorca for yourself.
When to book cheap flights to Menorca
Menorca’s peak season follows the sun. When the weather is around 28oC, between June and September, the most popular time to visit coincides with both the UK school holidays and a number of local events and festivals.
In general, direct flights are cheaper either side of the peak season in May and late September, although due to the sheer volume of chartered and scheduled flights, prices often remain competitive throughout the busy summer months too.
Yet, if you are searching for bargain-priced flights you are much better off considering October through to the middle of April, when there are fewer tourists. The weather may be cooler but it’s still warm enough if sunbathing isn’t your main priority.
