“Good quality 3 star hotel, with excellent leisure facilities”
Our hotel stay was good. The hotel was nice, clean, nice decor etc. It was a little tired in the woodwork painting in places and this would make a big difference. Hotel bedroom was quite hot (in November) but at least there was a fan. Quite small bathroom, but still had everything you wanted. Service was good, at reception, bar and restaurant. Breakfast was great! Good selection, freshly made, all nice and plenty of it, was very impressed. I know they asked a couple to wait a few minutes for a table at breakfast and they served them with juice and pastries straight away whilst they waited - nice touch. Leisure facilities were great, 25 meter pool which was lovely and warm, the hottest jacuzzi I had ever been in! Good changing facilities etc - really happy with it all. Had a really good stay and great value for money.
“Good value for money”
Had read previous reviews about lack of AC in rooms but didn't think it would be a problem in early October! A warm couple of nights but there was a fan provided. Room was modern, if a little lacking in lights. We were at back which was just as well given the very loud karaoke from the bar on arrival which we could hardly hear the receptionist over. Breakfast was good, although there is sometimes a wait for more hot food to appear. (Very nice) suburban location means car essential for travel. Great for easy access to the Trafford Centre. Excellent value for money overall despite small issues.
“Expensive but good.”
The breakfast was O.K. but nothing special. Normal and typical breakfast food. Complained about the croissants, cold soggy and yesterday's fare! Fried eggs were overcooked and hard. The evening meal steak was excellent and perfectly cooked to my liking and can be recommended. Would like to go there again but only with a discounted deal.
“perfectly fine - did the job for a good price”
pretty good stopover hotel with good leisure facilities for the price and good breakfast.
“Very noisy hotel”
Hardly slept a wink due to loud music and doors banging until approx 03.00. Woken again at about 05.00 am as the couple next door were taking a shower and talking. Shame as the hotel and restaurant were ok apart fom the paper thin Walls.
“Good value for the price I paid”
As I benefited from an Expedia Special Rate, the room at the Village Hotel was good value. Large room, quite comfortable, nothing to complain about (except for the TV, which initially did not work and had to be changed). On the first night, I made the mistake to have dinner at the restaurant, attracted by an "early bird" special offer. Well, the meal was quite cheap at £11 but then I was charged £16 for two glasses of ordinary red wine! Also the service was very slow. As I got tired of waiting, I left without getting the dessert (and was charged for it anyway).
“greedy service spoils a good hotel”
Booked the room for one of our wedding party guests (having previously used it without incident ourselves). Charged £10 for checking in early (despite it being nearly 3pm, the advertised check-in time) and the receptionist admitting the room was ready anyway (so required no extra attention to warrant the additional charge). Contacted the hotel to complain - no response, no acknowledgement. Poor service, poor communication and a greedy approach spoiling an otherwise pleasant hotel.
“Good value for money though a few "buts"”
We were very impressed with what the hotel has to offer: 25m pool, sauna, steam room, squash courts, gym, pub, restaurant and even a Starbuck's cafe. (Sport facilities are available to guests at no extra costs). The hotel is pleasant enough but right in the flight path of Man airport so not ideal if one is looking for a quiet retreat. Also, the internal walls seem to be made from papermache (why does anyone decide to build a hotel in that way?!!) so again, no guarantee for an undisturbed night. The restaurant is pleasant enough though could do with a makover and don't expect top notch food. Also, we were not impressed with the service. We had to wait too long for our drinks and desserts. The staff are friendly and try hard but it appears that the organisation lets it down
“Great Deal”
You cannot get a better deal for the price. The rooms are not exactly welcoming with their colour scheme and give the appearance of pristine brightness. We spent a few days there and even in the wintery conditions the rooms were warm. I would not be too happy with the room during warmer months as there was no a/c. However a table top fan was available for use. The breakfast buffet which was included was good and another freebie was the internet. The downside: the tub was very deep and in a few years I will not be able to get in or out of it with the high sides. The lack of face cloths was a pain but for the price and location who cares! I wish we had been at one of The Villages that had a Starbucks on site, as the coffee with the breakfast was great on two mornings and not too nice on the palate on the third day. If you do leave your window(s) open, remember that if the wind is in the right/wrong direction, you are on the flight path into Manchester Airport, but with the windows closed, the noise is negligible. I did not use the fitness facilities but they are available. There is ample parking even with all the Christmas parties that were going on at the time of our visit.
“Village Cheadle”
My stay at the Village Cheadle was quite enjoyable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pub had a nice atmosphere - the food was good and reasonably priced. I would definitely stay there again, and would be likely to try a hotel belonging to this chain when in another part of England. The full service fitness center equiped with a gym and swimming pool was a bonus.
