“Nice hotel”

Hotel was nice. Breakfast was good but staff had a hard time keeping things stocked. Neighborhood wasn't so great and certainly wasn't within walking distance to anything. Would stay again. Local Saturday morning paper was a nice touch.

Area recommendations
Downtown is a lot of fun. Rock City and Ruby Falls were delightful!

“Great hotel, Great location for price!!”

Hotel from the outside did not look that great but the inside was very nice and clean. Our room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The location is not right downtown but it was just a clear shot to all the downtown activities from Broad street (about 5 miles, no need to jump on the highway). Breakfast was great, different selection on the hot breakfast everyday.

“Great Quality, OK Location”

If you are (1) looking for a quality hotel in Chattanooga, (2) will have a car/other transportation available on your trip, and (3) are looking for a cheap rate, look no further. The hotel had great beds, bathrooms, and roominess. The free breakfast was outstanding, and varied day-to-day. On the inside, it was everything you'd want (and more) in a hotel. The downside: It's located in a so-so neighborhood. Further, it is NOT Downtown; there is another Hampton Inn (& Suites) location that is squarely downtown... and ~$100/night more expensive. So don't think you'll be able to walk anywhere from this location. That being said, if I'm ever in Chattanooga again, I'll be staying here as long as I'm driving.

“More than meets the eye”

Great Hotel. The outside of the hotel was deceiving as it looked a bit outdated. However, upon entering the hotel, there was no doubt that the building was updated and beautifully decorated. The rooms were very nice and most importantly, the beds were VERY comfortable (and this is coming from the princess and the pea). Also, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Would stay there again.

“We will probable used this hotel again next year at this same time of year”

Everything about the hotel was great, except we had requested when making the reservations to NOT have feather pillows or any feathers in any of the bedding and this was not done. My husband and I are both very allergic to feathers. We had to get this done when we arrived in the room after a 10 hour trip, we wanted to rest and could not until the pillows were replaced, and they only replaced three, not four pillows. The hotel was very difficult to find the entrance, due to one-way streets, and we went round and round the hotel until we finally saw where to turn in off a one-way street.

Do not know the city well enough to recommend anything
Getting there
Chattanooga has a lot of one-way streets and regardless of how or from what direction we approached the hotel we had to go around the block to get to the entrance of the hotel. It was rediculous, we could see the hotel, but could not get into the entrance without going around three one-way streets.

“Completely Satisfied”

The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was perfect for what we were looking for - an affordable stay for a couple of nights with easy access to downtown.

Family-friendly activities
The Tennessee Aquarium was a GREAT experience! We will likely go back as our family grows!

“Great Room...Really Great Price!”

We went to Chattanooga for a girls' trip. The Hamtpon Inn Downtown/Lookout Mountain was great!. The rooms were nice, very clean, and comfortable. The hotel seemed very fresh and new. Perhaps recently renovated. The staff was very friendly, and the breakfast was great! The pool is small, but it did the job. :) There wasn't much around the hotel as far as restaurants and shopping, but downtown Chattanooga was just a few minutes' drive away, We were there during the week, so traffic was no problem. It literally just took a couple minutes to get downtown. We also went to Ruby Falls, Rock City, the Incline Railway, and the TN Valley Railway Museum, Those places were only a short drive away as well. Some of the reviews I read before we booked this hotel said the surrounding area was kind of sketchy. Other than there was no place to eat right near the hotel, we thought it was perfectly fine! I would highly recommend this hotel, especially if you are traveling to Chattanooga on a budget!

Area recommendations
The Riverwalk Area in downtown Chattanooga was very nice. Lots of places to eat, and neat artwork positioned about.

“Very convenient”

The Hampton was very convenient because it was close to everything we wanted to see: Rock city, Ruby Falls, and the Riverfront. That being said, I would not have been comfortable walking around outside at night alone. It was near the interstate, which was awesome, but it was also near a lot of old abandoned buildings. The service was fantastic, the beds were very comfortable, the breakfast was excellent. The free cookies in the afternoon were a nice touch. The staff was very helpful and polite. The pool wasn't very big but it was fine for the kids to get out and have some fun in. The only complaint I had was the carpet in the hallways had an odor to it. I'm guessing from the pattern that it has been there a long time and either hasn't been cleaned very often or you just can't effectively clean it anymore. The rooms did NOT have this odor, it was just in the hallways.

Area recommendations
- The Boathouse Rotisserie and Raw Bar has the best food in town. There are some weird reviews about it on the internet but I thought the food, atmosphere, and service was excellent. I would highly recommend it. The views of the sunset from the balcony are spectacular. Wait for the outdoor table, it is completely worth it. - Our kids liked both Rocky City and Ruby Falls. They didn't seem to care too much for walking the pedestrian bridge but they were good sports about it. - Coolidge Park would be really fantastic if you have younger children; the fountain is amazing and they have lots of fun playing in the water. For older kids, make sure you bring a football, a Frisbee, soccer ball, etc. for their entertainment. If not, they will probably be bored. You need to bring lots of water too. The main refreshments served nearby are alcoholic.
Getting around
Chattanooga can be confusing: lots of one way streets and streets blocked off for the music festival. My Garmin got us lost several times.
What to pack
Lots of bottled water, a hat, and sunscreen in the summer months. The humidity is bad and if you're not used to it, it can ruin your day.
