“delta queen is an historical landmark-everyone should experience the river boat expericence”
The Delta Queen is one of a kind-so sorry it is not cruising the rivers anymore.
“fabulous, unique hotel”
The staff were very friendly, we had a bunk booked originally which on inspection was very small, but still very well decorated. The staff kindly offered us an upgrade for a very reasonable price to a queen room. It was gorgeous, lots of attention to detail, the whole paddle steamer is very opulant and romantic. Definatley reccommend.
“An extraordinary overnight location - loved it!”
Overnighting on this historic river boat was super special. Booked the standard cabin, beds were very comfortable. Awesome location, great view on TN river. Very romantic in the evening. A little pricy but worth it for special occasions.
“A Night On The River Boat”
Quit an experience on a river paddle boat. I took the bunk room and it was tight quarters but very clean. However, I did not have hot water in shower. Food was OK. Cocktails at night overlooking the city was fabulous!
“Wish I never had to leave!!!”
What a nostalgic stay! My husband and I stayed on the Delta Queen one night while passing through Chattanooga. We enjoyed it so much, we stayed again on our return trip home. The employees are so friendly, going out of their way to assist the 'passengers'. They all seem to enjoy their work, proven by their smiles! The beds are very comfortable, the food excellent. The surrounding neighborhood is quite clean, with a park adjoining where the boat is docked. I would love to see the Delta Queen sail again one day.
“Fun but....”
The Delta Queen is a one of a kind destination & overall well preserved. Sitting on the deck at night overlooking the river & lights from the bridge is spectacular. We checked in at 5PM on a Sunday night & the same used abandoned cocktail glasses we discovered on arrival remained scattered about at 10:30PM. The hotel was not busy & this lack of attention to detail detracted from the ambiance. Also, the water in the shower was tepid at best! Given the price of the most expensive rooms, these details should never have been overlooked. Our room was clean & lovely. Overall a score of B while charging A+ prices.
“Wonderful stay”
The Delta Queen is a grand old river boat, beautifully built, and with a lot of history. A regular bland hotel it is not - so do not expect TV, phone, or a lot of space. This is a historic trip back in time. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and you get a full hot breakfast every morning, which was very good. Be sure to explore the whole ship, and to watch the video about the last trip it made to Chattanooga.
“Unique experience”
Visited from New Jersey with my 18 yr old son on the way to college. First time to Chattanooga. Had a great time. Very convenient location. Took the footbridge across the river to downtown, about a 10 minute walk. Great views. Many great restaurants, museums, aquarium and AT&T Park (home of the AA baseball team- the "Lookouts") within a few blocks. The staff of the Delta Queen was awesome. Will definitely be back.
“A Good Value and History Lesson, Too.”
We stayed on the Delta Queen for three nights and found it to be a pleasant experience as well as an enjoyable history lesson. Staying here requires an understanding that this boat is 85 years old, but it's a treasure trove of river history. Rooms were smaller than ordinary hotel rooms (of course...you're on a boat), but larger than what you'd find on modern day cruise ships. Ornate brass and woodwork throughout added a sophisticated atmosphere and a reminder of the many people who enjoyed journeys up and down the river in bygone days. The breakfast was quite substantial with eggs, bacon, sausage...the works, plus a very nice spread of fruits and breads. The boat is right on Coolidge Park with a nice grassy lawn, fountains and a historic carousel. Loads of eateries and sights within walking distance. Parking ample, close by, and free. Also a free shuttle across the river to downtown. The staff was very cordial with the exception of one bad apple. The lady at the desk when we arrived was addicted to Facebook on the job. No big deal. This boat can be quite social and family oriented. The people are all about in the common areas where you can meet and have great conversations over tea and coffee. That was really nice. All in all, a very nice experience that we'd recommend to anyone.
“Wish we could have stayed longer”
The only problem we had was that there was no hot water for shower in the morning. Parking is a bit of a hassle, free from 4:40p to 8:00a when the meters turn back on. This is probably what led to the shortage of hot water, everyone getting up and out before having to feed the meter. But the service and view and overall ambiance totally outweighed these minor inconveniences. On our list of places to return to and bring other family members.
