“Great Location for a Visit to UVA”
The location is great if you are going to UVA. Hotel room was nice and large, nice view. Bed was not extremely comfortable.
“Terrific Location and Comfortable”
My wife and I journeyed to Charlottesville to attend the Va Tech / Virginia football game. The Red Roof Inn is within easy walking distance of Scott Stadium and the UVA campus. There are many bars and restaurants on the same block which were teeming with students and football fans. If you are looking for a quiet secluded place to stay - this is NOT what you are looking for. On the other hand, if you are looking to experience football weekend - this is your place and very reasonably priced. I WILL stay here the next time I go to Charlottesville for a football game.
“Unpretentious and just fine.”
Parking garage kind of tight and crowded.
“close enough to walk”
The hotel was close enough to walk to the event I was attending. There was plenty of food and beverage on the street. I did not feel uncomfortable walking at dark. The hotel had adequate staff and parking. However, the room was for four and only enough towels for 2. The staff was gracious in giving us the proper amount of linens. The ice machine was quiet and close to our room. The mattress was somewhat firm and the pillows were okay. There was plaster dust on the floor that had not been cleaned up. I did not see and construction or repair but nevertheless it was apparent they must have been fixing things up. I thought overall it was convenient and a nice stay.
“Fine for what I wanted”
Haven't read any other reviews of this hotel but it served me fine. I got a cheap price, the room was clean and much more spacious than I was expecting. I travelled to Charlottesville by train and it was less than 10 minutes to walk to the hotel. Reason for staying was to go to a concert at the Paramount Theater - easy walk, lots of restaurants and bars. I'd use it again if I was returning to Charlottesville if the price was equally good.
“Flawed”
This motel is quiet with large, well-appointed, comfortable rooms. If you have business on the UVA campus or just want to mix in the student milieu, this is the place for you. But this hotel has a flaw: It serves no continental breakfast, just coffee. The eateies around it serve only lunch and supper, consisting mostly of burgers, subs, and pizza. So if you want breakfast or a full dinner, you must drive across town through traffic-choked streets to find a restaurant.
“Dirty, run-down. Bad cigarette smell near the lobby door”
Bedspreads were dirty. Stayed in 4 different hotels in 4 days and this by far was the worst. Had to pay to use computer in front lobby. Hot water for tea in lobby was brown. Staff says they would freshen it up in the morning. In the morning the hot water was still brown. No breakfast included. Heating vent falling out of the wall in the bathroom. Only place we stayed with no breakfast option. Would not stay here again
“Not bad, but overpriced”
The Charlottesville Red Roof is in a great location and offers free parking which is nice in that area. However the rooms are dated with older beds, small TV's and limited furnishings. The rooms are clean and the bathrooms are fine, except that they only provide soap.
“Great Location”
Great location, close to Rotunda.
“GREAT LOCATION!!!”
PROS:The best thing about this hotel is definitely it's location. It is located right on the main street across from UVA, also walking distance to the hospital. There are alot of restaurants and things around to walk to. NEUTRAL: The condition of the hotel is completely fine. It's nothing special, but it seemed clean and comfortable. CONS: My complaints are the towels are completely thin and scratchy, definitely the wrost towels ever. The air conditioning unit was either an all or none system, so you either freeze or are hot. It's also extremely loud, but livable. OVERALL: I would stay at this hotel again
