“Definitely will return”

thought the hotel was great; Staff was polite and responsive; Was pretty quiet; Breakfast was great; hotel was convenient to downtown and other areas. loved looking out to boats in marina; California Dreamer was good. Rug maybe needed good cleaning; Overall wouldn't ask for more for the value. Definitely would return.

“Not impressed”

This hotel appeared to be a nice hotel but poorly maintained and managed. Signs of dirtiness and abuse are everywhere. When we got to the room, the door was unlocked. No towel in the room, and no bedspread but a thin blanket. When the outside temp. was at 40s, and heater was too noisy, it meant a cold night at Charlston. The tub was filthy and tiles were moldy. The worst part was that the room was not cleaned and made up after we returned to the hotel after a day of outing! It seemed that this did not happen for the first time. The hotel needs a major shake-up. BTW, the breakfast was good.

“Must be better hotels”

One man on reception trying to check people in, answer phones etc meant it took a while. First nonsmoking room smelled very strongly of smoke and faced onto busy highway with a lot of traffic noise. Room was ok but basic. Breakfast was ok but very busy. Only one crowded restaurant nearby.

“Comfortable home base from which to explore Charleston”

Great hotel if you are looking for a cheaper place to sleep while exploring Charleston. Nothing fancy, but comfortable and nicely located just over the bridge from downtown.

Area recommendations
King Street and E Bay Street - great areas to walk around and find a variety of restaurants

“Noisy”

There was nothing wrong with the room. The problem was extremely noisy and drunk people going in and out of an adjacent room. After midnight, I called the front desk to complain and ask the employees to quieten the rambunctious guest. Nothing was done, and those people were going strong until 4 am.

“OK.”

This hotel was good enough for the price. We did have a problem where the toilet in the room kept backing up, and the plumber had to come out 3 separate times. He would fix it, it would work for a while, it would back up again... So that was frustrating, esp. when we had to wait for him to finish before we could go to bed. However, the room was clean and decent, and the location is fantastic.

“So convenient!”

We were skeptical of the quality of an economy-priced hotel in downtown charleston, but the laquinta was perfect. By no means luxury, but it was clean, roomy, convenient, and even offered free breakfast! Just what we needed. We will be back!

“Never again”

The room seemed clean, but had broken and dated furnishings / fixtures. Burnt orange / 60's decor. The plus: surrounding area was nice and view of river was nice. But that was it. I still did not feel safe or comfortable and could not wait to leave. I usually stick to a particular chain..but this time I needed a quick stay and everything else was booked. I will never stay at this hotel chain ever again.

“Nice Location”

Hotel is located on a very nice location. Required some updates. Good for the price we paid. Would recomend for those with limited budget. Friendly environment. Kids friendly. Didn't like the pool at all.
