“Dainty, Pleasant Place on the Water”

The Charleston Harbour Resort and Marina was a very pleasant place to stay during our brief visit to Charleston. The only complaint I have was that the receptionist acted very confused and implied several times that he was not sure if we had reservations, when we clearly did. The next morning, the manager of the hotel was at the front, Sara, and she was fantastic! She was just as excited about finding a place for us to eat breakfast as we were. The view is very pleasant, and the noise level in the hotel was just right.

Area recommendations

Downtown Charleston and Mount Pleasant - the rest is ghetto.

McGrady's is a fantastic restaurant with wonderful service!

“Great Location in Charleston!”

We were very satisfied with the location of our hotel. The only disappointment was the size of the room and lack of chair/couch to sit on. We were not in the room much as there was so much to see in Charleston. The location was premium! Terrific view, close to downtown and other sites. We would definitely stay there again as it was clean, the bed was comfortable and it was just beautiful. Next time we would ask for a room with a balcony - I believe it is called a deluxe king - worth the extra price.

Area recommendations

Downtown Charleston is alive and jumping! We not only ate at several wonderful Restaurants, but there was plenty to see and do. Highly recommend Charleston for a long weekend.

Dining

Hyman's Seafood, Magnolia's and several other restaurants were the highlight of our trip. Although we ate only breakfast and dinner, I still gained 3 lbs, even though we probably walked 7 to 10 miles a day taking in all the sites. Parking is a pain - suggest parking in a lot and walking. Meeting Street, Market Street and King Street are your best bets for fine dining, but ask the locals!

“Very nice”

We stayed in a standard king since no deluxe rooms were available with a balcony. Room was very comfortable and the view was fantastic. Very convienient location. For a great meal try Waters Edge in Chem's creek, less than five minutes away. Hyman's is excellent too on Meeting St in Charleston.

Take a carraige ride into the old Charleston residential district.

“Only For the Trolley Service”

Overall I would rate this hotel a 3/5. Here are my reasons why: A few days prior to check in, I contacted the hotel directly and asked if we could check in 2 hours early (2pm). They informed me this shouldn't be a problem. My husband and I checked in at 2pm, and were told the room was not ready. No apology whatsoever given by the staff. Not a big deal, except the clerk did not tell us around what time the room would be available despite asking 3 times nor did he provide any information as to restaurants nearby or on property. We happened to find the bar by accident and waited there. We finally checked into our room around 330 which was not bad. The room was very small, bathroom was not cleaned well (hair in the toilet, on one of the towels, and in the shower). The comforter was ripped and stained. We were not pleased but decided to stay one night to give it a chance. I could not sleep I was so grossed out. We ended up contacting Expedia the next day and inquiried about changing our reservations to one of the hotels downtown. The hotel ended up calling us directly and upgraded our room to a view with balcony. The room was updated, much cleaner and slightly bigger. I would only stay here again because of the Trolley they provided to downtown every 2 hours. This helped us save 20 which is the average cab ride one way. If the rooms were all upgraded and cleaned well, my opinion may change.

“Best Harbour View Hotel Resort in Charleston”

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, it was almost like a resort. Very clean, up to date rooms. Comfortable beds, pillows and bedding. Pool, bar and hot tub were nice also. Went for our anniv., would also be nice for families.

“Fun in the Sun”

The room was beautiful and the staff was courteous. There is enough transportation from the hotel that you don't need a rental car.

Area recommendations

Mt. Pleasant near Patriots Point if you are looking for a quiet getaway and yet you still want to be close to all of the history of Charleston.

“Charlestown Weekend”

A bit dissapointed that there was no fitness room on site, and that for the price breakfast was not included.

Area recommendations

Stay at a B&B at least one or two nights in the historic section, just for the experience the price is about the same, then head over to the Harbor Resort and Marina, for a different perpective on the city, nice accomodation and beatiful views, nice pool and deck overlooking the bay and marina. Lovely suset.

Must see

Charles Towne Landing, the Frances Biedler Audubon Nature Preserve Swamp, walking along the Battery and down the residential area amongst the historic homes.
