Very nice hotel in a great location overlooking the harbour and adjacent to the aquarium. Comfortable room and bed, the room was nice a clean with good facilities. Reception staff were excellent helping my wife with a lost iPad left in a sister hotel in Rouen. Private parking, take a ticket on entry and pay at the barrier when leaving. Would recommend.

Dear Denise,Thank you for taking the time to share your positive experience at Hôtel Mercure La Rochelle Vieux-Port. We are delighted to hear that you found our hotel comfortable and enjoyed our great location overlooking the harbor. We are glad that you found your room clean and well-equipped, and that our reception staff provided excellent assistance. We appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back again in the future.Warm regards,GwenaëlleCheffe de réception
Great location on water but a lot of closed roads around hotel and somewhat difficult to get too. Parking was an on-site outside lot but very crowded and hard to find space
We chose this hotel because of its on site parking but it provided much more than that. Location is excellent overlooking the port. The service really good and the breakfast better than expected. Will return
The hotel is well placed to walk into central La Rochelle and has plenty of parking. Whether it is policy for Hotel.com bookings to be given a top floor room at maximum distance from the lifts I do not know but it was not an encouraging start. After we had unpacked we tried to have a shower. The control for the water was loose and lifted totally from the side of the bath and we could not obtain any water from the bath. The receptionist came to the room and managed to get the shower to work something I was subsequently unable to achieve. We were offered another room but we were only staying one night and did not want the hassle.
Convenient for city centre and restaurants & landmarks by tram or on foot plus 250 metres from rail station

Abandoned Trip
No idea what hotel is like. Rail strikes meant we had to cancel our trip to watch Glasgow Warriors beat LA Rochelle in European Rugby Champions Cup. ☹️
The Mercure is in an ideal location and it serves an excellent breakfast. The staff were very friendly and the room, although a little small, was very clean and quiet.
Great hotel and great location the only downside was our room was on the second floor above the restaurant which was quite noisy at 6.30am chairs being dragged across the floor but all in all very nice hotel

Such an awesome location! Lovely staff but the security men seemed to be on our level a lot. Our room was very small, smaller then our accomodation in London which is saying something. The bathroom is in need of an update. Our shower bath didn’t drain very well and the shower fluctuated between super hot and cold so wasn’t very pleasant. But the location made up for the negative points :)
Great harbour town with loads to see and do and su
A lovely place of history and atmosphere with a vibrancy at night (lots of bars and restaurants) and the magic of boats bobbing up and down in the harbours. Hotel is in a brilliant location right next door to the aquarium (really worth a visit). The ferris wheel was a surprise - great views of the town. Climbing the Lantern tower was interesting. Great few days and would have loved longer.
We stayed at this hotel last year, but this year, it was a little different. £100 more expensive for a smaller room, less quality of breakfast, i.e.no bacon one day, cold scrambled egg the next day. Overall a satisfactory stay.
The hotel was nicely appointed in the lobby and is close to a variety of restaurants, The hotels restaurant was also nicely decorated, but some other public areas were a little tired and in need of a refurbishment. We only had a one night stay on our return home from a European driving holiday, unfortunately the room was also a little tired and clearly had been nicely decorated originally with what appeared good quality fittings regrettably it had a damp soiled smell that originated in the bathroom, the shower screen did not have a seal at the bottom and water floods onto the floor. We suspect this has been on going for sometime and is probably the source /cause of the damp soiled smell which also affects the whole room. Had we been there longer I would have requested a room change as it was unpleasant.
Central location in easy reach of bars, restaurants and bike hire. Free on-site parking a great advantage.

Great location, awful device at breakfast with guests having to clear or request tables to be cleared, most foods had run out and not available, very poor service.
