“A disaster - a complete dump”
This was a nightmare like we have never experienced in more than 20 years traveling around the world. Although we communicated with the hotel directly via phone and email prior to our arrival and we arrived with a printed confirmation of our Expedia online booking for a cottage with A/C, the hotel completely refused to honor our reservation. They were rude and the offsite manager hung up on us when contacted to explain the situation and asked to rectify it. They claimed to have contacted Expedia saying that the booking could not be honored (that they had supposedly been completely booked for 6 months)
We had to stay there because we arrived late at night, raining, and the only way to get there/leave is via the hotel's boat in a 20 minute ride (something not explained until we were left on the water's edge and told to wait for a boat to come). The room provided was not a cottage, had no A/C. What the cramped room DID have was blood on the torn sheets, hair on the small table, stained towels, dirt (and human waste?) in the bathroom, peeling ceilings and floors. We later met another family who told us that the same thing happened to them -- the hotel did not honor their reservation for the first night. (We later heard that the majority of their clientele seems to be families from north India so perhaps the hotel feels they can get away with not honoring bookings by global agencies.) The grounds were littered with rubbish outside the rooms and around the dining area.
