Favorite hotel in the world to date. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
There were, however, two small downsides. One was the location, the hotel is actually in Cha-am, not Hua Hin. So, you need to take the hotel shuttle van (50 baht each way) into town.
Two, the hotel is immense, and there's not a lot around it so forget about just walking off the grounds to look at things, do a little shopping, run errands, or grab a bite to eat.

A very relaxing 4 night stay at the very nice Hotel de la Paix. The rooms are very big and boast an amazing shower that comes from the ceiling in the middle of the bathroom! The hotel staff excelled in every way... with superb customer service. Breakfasts were delicious and varied day by day, the BBQ buffet was fantastic value and the food was very tasty. I would recommend this hotel for couples wanting an 'away from it all' break. I would not recommend it to those wanting a more lively holiday due to the location of the hotel. On the downside it took 30 minutes by shuttle bus to get into Hua Hin - which isn't the prettiest place I have ever been in Thailand. We also could not swim in the sea due to the jelly fish. That said, we were happy to laze on our sunbeds and use the hotel pools :)
Veranda Resort & Spa is a wonderful hotel. Nice large rooms with furnished balcony where it is great to sit and relax in the afternoon. Privat beach with free sunbeds. Beach has a couple of nice small beachrestaurants where also massage is given. Big pool surrounded by sunbeds. About 20 min with taxi to Hua Hin. All in all great spot to stay and explore.
I booked using the Dusit Club package, which provided great value for money in terms of meaningful "free" extras (breakfast, Club snack & pre dinner drinks etc. The hotel facilities are top class, both the accommodation (room size, facilities, cleanliness), grounds are A++++ in terms of the view, landscaping, amazing pool area, proximity to the beach. It was like paradise.
The staff were informal, thoroughly friendly and professional to the holidaying traveller. Nothing was too much trouble and that was from every staff member from supervisers to gardeners.
The location Hua Hin is 2 hours drive from Bangkok and is a place for couples, families, business get aways. The area has lots of resorts, so there's plenty of tourists visible but with a complete absence of the glitz of Bangkok or Phuket. It seems a strong European, Thai and Asian holiday destination.
Plenty of typical Thailand tourist tours to experience, including both historic and natural attractions.
If you want a wonderfully relaxing hiliday in the best possible surroundings, then look no further. If you want boozy nightlife and girlie bars, go to Bangkok or Phuket.
This was a very nice hotel with an excellent room, restaurant, and pool. The buffet breakfast was particularly good. It was an excellent hotel for a relaxing family break. The surrounding area itself was grotty and getting to the nearest town and back was quite costly, but doable. For anyone happy to make a few day trips and spend time in a very nice hotel to relax, this is just the job. The staff were really helpful and polite.
Our family visited this hotel in January, 2014.
This is very very good hotel!
The hotel is located not far from the city of HuaHin. On the beach. The beach on the sea is very pure. Staff of hotel watches it. On a beach very beautiful view of all coast is opens.
Not close to the beach, you have to take the shuttle to their sister hotel in Hua hin, which is better to stay in that city. Everything is old and needs a renovation. The pool is dirty. We can't use the jacuzzis because of the water problem. It's far from everything, not even a 7eleven is near. The staff barely understands English and up until the last day, when we were leaving, everyone started to greet us.

This hotel is stunning. The gardens are beautiful and relaxing. Although it is a little away from the centre of town, there's a free shuttle three times a day and you just need to get a taxi back (haggle down to 200 baht - it's about £4).
The restaurant within the hotel is fantastic, we had either lunch or dinner here every day and the other meal was had in town depending what we were doing that day. Breakfast was good although the menu can be quite funny. There are Asian options and European options daily, plus every day there is a cooked breakfast (usually a frankfurter, some kind of egg and some kind of vegetable - not necessarily as you'd expect) and French toast, pancakes (may I highly recommend these), homemade croissants (I had one every day - delicious), cereals, fruit, meats, cheeses, breads (optionally toasted) and jams.
The pool is lovely and the beach is nice enough, although we are not really beach people.
