honestly for my first time in the historic city center of Mexico was Spectacular, , I loved all his history, all the museums around, its people, The original murals by Diego Rivera, all restaurants with its authentic Mexican food , it was a trip that was worth.
Really enjoy to stay in Downtown Beds in the past five days. It is very convenient to go around. The staff are very friendly. They offered a lot of help to the guests like me who first come to Mexico City and with language limitation (zero Spanish) .
Excellent hotel . Great décor. Great location in the Centro Historico of Mexico City. 5 minutes walk from the Zocalo. Fantastic breakfast, cold and hot items including a Mexican selection of traditional dishes, sweet breads and fruit. Very safe. Clean and comfortable room. Nice big bathroom, specially the shower. Very cordial staff, very helpful and friendly. Really nice experience. We have dinner in the Garabatos restaurant one night. Good food, delicious cookies from the bakery; as a hotel guest you get a 10% discount. I've stayed in many other Hampton Inns in the States but I'd would say this is the best of all.
My experience in Mexico City and at this hotel was great.
The only aspect I was not completely happy with was the size of my room. I believe there might be bigger rooms at the hotel, but as I got a discounted rate, I guess I got the smallest room they have. This room, although very small is ok for one person if you mostly come back to the hotel to sleep. It has a safe, coffee maker, coffee, tea and water (no fridge). By the the way, bottled water is available for free. There is a small fridge with water on the corridor and you may help yourself.
Bed and pillows were comfortable and the room quiet. The bed size was fine for me alone, but 2 taller or bigger people together could find it too small.
Internet is free and worked perfectly.
There is a restaurant in the hotel with a beautiful view. If you would like to have breakfast there during the weekend it is recommended to make a reservation if you would like to sit at the terrace. The food was not amazing but good enough to not exploit the experience.
The hotel can always organize a taxi driver for you and this same person can go to pick you up where ever you are. The cost is normally 170 pesos each way. A taxi you stop on the street will cost less but in the middle of the night you might prefer to pay a bit more for the comfort and safety.
Speaking about safety, I felt safe during all times I have been there.
Rooms, toilets, and hallways were cleaned daily. Location was good, near the Zocalo and sightseeing spots. It was also near a metro station. Police presence was strong during my stay , didn't feel unsafe. Daily breakfast was decent with bread, cereal, fruits and pancakes.
