“Shilo Inn & Suites - Newport”
One of the more affordable oceanfront lodgings in Newport, at least during the off season. Not a huge fan of the exterior entrance, but the location and view are sublime. Would definitely stay here again.
“you get what you paid.”
We spent there 2 nights...first night was perfect, but second night heater is broke.
“Rooms need major renovation”
Based on the website pictures and description, I thought this would be a really great deal for what looked on the web pictures and description would be a very nice hotel. But, after arriving and checking into my room, I felt like I had checked into a run-down cheap motel rather than a nice, full-service inn. On the plus side: the staff were all very friendly and professional. The building with the lobby and the building with the restaurant were nice. Also, great access to the beach. Negatives: the building our room was in was very run-down. The furniture had been updated but the doors, windows, trim, bathroom, heater, etc. were like a cheap motel. I shouldn't have been charged more than $69 for this room. The room smelled musty as if it hadn't been aired out in ages. Also, what was described as a "lap pool" was so tiny that it should not have been called a "lap pool". It was way too short for anyone other than kids to swim in. It is totally misleading to call it a "lap pool".
“1 night in newport”
All was good. Hey, it's the beach experience. I'm sure we left some sand in the room too. Great ocean views and easy beach access...only 90 stairs or so
“Ocean view”
Check in staff was friendly and courtious. Room was clean and comfortable, but not home like comfortable. Beautiful beach and ocean views. Will stay there again when in Newport.
“Nice Hotel”
We stayed briefly one night but we really enjoyed the comfort of the king sized bed. The room was clean and the staff was friendly.
“Nice view but bad hotel guest”
I wanted a nice peaceful weekend on the coast; and while the room was nice and had a beautiful view of the ocean the other hotel guest put a little damper on things. There must have been some sort of convention because those who were in the rooms next to ours would come back to their rooms around 11:30pm or later and make all sorts of noise and loud talking until about 1am. The hotel had 2 pools, a full service resturant and a small cafe that serves breakfast and lunch. It is right on the beach, but to get to the beach you have to take the 92 steps down... and then back up on your return. The beach is very nice and about 4 miles in length. Being a runner I took advantage of a nice run on the beach.
“Always enjoy the stay”
Have stayed at this propoerty for years and find a consistent high quaity of staff attention. There are some obvious impacts of recession on the overall amenities seen as evidenced by the provision of paper cups in the room, when glasses were noted during the previous stay.
“Great location”
Great location good quality rooms
“Great place for a weekend getaway”
We had a great time. The hotel room was spacious and clean. The pool was great. We ate at the cafe and it was delicious. The view from the room and the restaurant was great! We will definitely stay here again.
