“Ideal base for Thessaloniki stay and shopping”

Le Palace is situated in the centre of a great shopping area. Restaurants, Traditional tavernas, the Esplanade, and even the fish and vegetable markets are all at your doorstep or just an easy stroll away. Likewise the historical sites and the glorious Orthodox Church St Demitirius and the Byzantium Museum and the White Tower. The staff were polite and helpful. The room and linen were clean. Breakfast was a delightful medium sized buffet with an adequate selection of cereals and hot food and sweet delights for after. Just would have liked a second cup of tea or coffee. We travelled with a child. This was a safe location for a family, with 24 hour reception, and a lift.

Area recommendations
The area we stayed in. Safe, close to the Esplanade, retail shops and tavernas. Walking distance to historical sites and Orthodox churchs with their Byzantine icons
Must see
Church of St Demitirius with its wonderful icons Byzantine Museum White Tower Highest point of the Old Medevial Wall - has spectacular views over Thessaloniki, restaurants, old village atmosphere and a museum. If you run out of walking time, take a very, very affordable taxi drive there and back or stay for lunch. Fish and vegetable markets. Eat at the Authentic tavernas inside the fish markets

At Tsimiski Street - Great shoe shopping and good service. Also Good clothes shopping

“Ideal location in Thessaloniki”

The La Palace Hotel is in an ideal location in the city centre. The seafront, port, main square, fresh food markets, luxury shopping district, museums and historic ruins are all within walking distance. The rooms are clean and tidy. The hotel rightly prides itself on the exceptionally comfortable beds. The bathrooms are function but could do with updating. The breakfast buffet is excellent and is open well into late morning for those wishing to sleep in. The staff were friendly, helpful and fluent in English. Rooms facing the street (as mine did) have some traffic noise.

Area recommendations
If your intention is to explore the city or do business there, I recommend the city centre. The La Palace Hotel is in an ideal location.
Dining
Greek food is wonderful. Be adventurous! There is a lively cafe culture as well as numerous full service restaurants in a range of prices. The food is usually local and fresh. Definitely visit some of the pastry shops!
