The Starlight provided very comfortable accommodations for my wife and me during week long visits to Budapest in the summer of 2013 and 2014 while I was a visiting faculty member at the nearby Central European University. The large apartment with separate bedroom and living room is ideal for work and leisure. The location is also perfect for exploratory walks throughout downtown Budapest. Everything about the hotel is excellent - comfortable rooms, good buffet breakfast, reliable WiFi and an extremely helpful staff who speak English.

I have stayed in Best Western hotels in various countries and this one is up with the best of them. It is located in a very quiet road (so a good nights sleep) but only a 10 minute walk from Herrengasse metro stn. (turn left from stn exit walk 100 metres then turn right for another 100 metres, cross the road and walk down hill and hotel is about 150 metres )
The hotel is very clean, bright and modern. Rooms are spacious with seating and beds are comfortable and bedding is crisp and white.
For attractions just head back to Herrengasse metro. Walk past stn. Turn right will take you to Michealplatz with the Spanish riding school (book in advance if you want to see show or exercise/ guided tour).
Turn left past stn. and you come to Graben street and St. Stephens cathedral.
I would recommend the guided tour of the magnificent Opera House. If you are lucky like me you will see and hear the orchestra and players rehearsing for that nights performance.
Schonbrunn palace is a 20 minute metro ride away (Schonbrunn stn on U4 line is 300 metres walk to palace) so no need to buy expensive coach trip.
The RINGTRAM is a good but expensive (8 euros) way of getting you bearings as to where a lot of the main sights are.
We are a family of 5 who was staying in Vienna for a couple of nights, before heading off to Salzburg for 3 nights and returning to Vienna for another 2 nights. We had booked for 2 adjoining rooms, but was given separate rooms on arrival in Vienna, which was a disappointing over-sight from the staff. However they did make amends, so that on our return from Salzburg, we got the corner suite with an adjoining room, which was fabulous. Generally the stay was very comfortable and the staff attentive. Breakfast was very good.
I stayed four nights in August 2013:
- Five minutes walk to U-Bahn Schottenring. Access is then easy to all the sites using the excellent public transportation system.
- Small room, but when on vacation, the room is only used for sleeping
- Very quiet at night
- No air conditioning. Might be a problem during very hot periods. Wasn't the case during my stay.
- Lots of choice for the included breakfast

The check in process was quick taking us to our room and showing us how to use the extra key to the outside door. I thought it was a very safe area. Certainly an easy walk to cafes and attractions in addition to busses and trams. Our room was very peaceful and perfect for the 3 of us girls! I would stay here again in a heartbeat!
