The hotel was beautiful and centrally located. The staff were amazing. I got sick during my trip and they had medication. The hotel was directly connected to kyoto station by the subway which was very convenient. And the bus stop for all the major buses to all the sights was right outside the hotel. I loved my experience!
"Friendly Ryokan within stumbling distance of Nishi"
Kagihei is a lovely little Ryokan situated just a few yards from Nishiki market & 5 mins walk from Shio-Dori and Gion, bus stops and train stations.
The first thing that strikes you is the friendliness of the welcome. Our 2nd floor room was comfortable and spacious and an excellent breakfast is served in the ground floor dining rooms (one per guest room).
The hotel is in central Kyoto, which is great for walking around to restaurants and shops and the Gion District. The room is clean and cozy. A bit small. You couldn't have 2 suitcases lying open on the floor. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
The hotel locates in great location within walking distance to bus stop and subway stations. The room we had was the biggest ever we have stayed in Japan. Definitely would recommend to friends and will stay in the same place next time.

This is a Japanese home of the traditional style, with sliding paper doors and thin walls.
It has no central heating, Only a couple of individual heating units. It has no beds, only fin futons to be slept in on tatami mats. The table is less than a foot off the ground and people must sit on cushions on the tatami mats.
The bath is a huge round ceramic tub, that feels automatically and stays heated at the specified temperature.
Check-in is at a separate location. The check-in is at a building just South of the Avanti building, which is just south of the central train station.
The house is very spare but is elegant in a simple Japanese way.
From the front desks gracious greeting until we departed everything was top quality.
The staff was friendly and knowledgable, the entire place was immaculate and our room was beautiful.
Shortly after we checked in a young woman brought tea and snack to our room, much fun.
The room was an ok size for three people with the futons spread out and sleeping on the floor 5 nights was more comfortable than we thought it would be although after the first night my daughter and I added 2 more pads to the bottom.
Bathroom was compact but lovely.
Our only frustration was having 3 medium suitcases with a tiny closet and no drawers so we felt messy all the time with our clothing.
We would highly recommend this place.
