The best location! All the hotel staff was very professional and helpful. The hotel shop showcases nice selections of Kyoto souvenir. The room I stayed was spacious and clean. The bathroom was great for Japanese style bathing. The only drawback was the noise level --some kind of mechanic\door closing sounds. Over all, the hotel is one of the bests for real people who love to visit Kyoto repeatedly.

I loved this hotel. It had a cheap rate and a large sized room for the price. Staff was friendly and spoke English very well. Many other foreigners stayed at hotel and a few businessmen. Very comfortable beds, clean rooms, and even an onsen on the 4th floor which was very quiet. Although the hotel is a little outdated I would highly recommend it for its price. I have staying in many fancy hotels and would not give a recommendation for a hotel that was dirty or the service was bad. It has close proximity to the subway which is great to get around. I recommend the subway 1 day pass which gives you unlimited access to the subways for 1 day. It saved us a lot of money while sightseeing.
The hotel has a great location. It is across the street from the Nishiki Market, close to sub way station, with lots of different restaurants and convenience stores around and a short walk away to the river.
The location was great, right across the street from the palace and only a short walk from the subway. The staff was courteous and friendly. The people at the front desk spoke English and were helpful. As a budget conscious traveler the price was excellent and the room was the best by far of the hotels I have stayed at so far on my month long trek across Japan(I am in my thirties and by no means a hostel backpacker.)
"The hotel was recently renovated, so it was nice."
We planned an overnight trip to Kyoto and booked at the Kyoto Tokyu Hotel because of price and availability, as we hadn't stayed here before. I was impressed how clean and new the hotel felt when we first arrived, including a pleasant aroma of the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and were able to help in English. The atmosphere was good. Of course, being a Japanese hotel the room was a little smaller than American hotels, including a "cozy" bathroom, though the tub/shower were plenty big (I have stayed in much smaller Japanese hotels with tiny "cramped" bathrooms, this one was not "cramped"). King beds were not available when we booked, so my wife and I stayed in "twin" beds, but we were pleasantly surprised that the "twin" beds actually felt like "double" beds, so we slept with the space we needed. The beds were a bit firmer than we like, but were not too bad. The hotel is located not far from the Kyoto JR Station, and there are buses and subways nearby to get where we wanted to go. Over all, we enjoyed our stay and will consider staying here next time we travel to Kyoto.
Lovely hotel, in the centre of Kyoto so a great location. Stayed for 3 nights and can't think of anything to fault them on. Highly recommend!! This is the first time I've bothered to recommend a hotel, it was that good. We did get upgraded to their Premium floor, so I don't know what their standard rooms are like.
First of all, i hardly give hotel a review, but for one, I have to give some good feedback as it deserves.
Point 1) Very friendly staffs no matter what time you approach them and ask for information about Kyoto and help. Including early in the morning for breakfast or late even for their compliment supple.
Point 2) Hotel location is really convenient, so close to the train exit when we came from Osaka with 2 big 2 small luggages. (we took little time to find it as it entrance is in small alley) close to Gion, shopping street malls, bus stops.
Point 3) Interior design is modern while blending the traditional japanese artworks. In room facilities are very user friendly, good lighting design for your comfort, free movies on TV(in Aus is paid), amazed fancy shower set plus massage function, quite top range japanese toilet seat( heated, spray, blow dry, music), Humidifier plus Air-purifier(yes important is Kyoto is dry).
P.S. every room even equipped a Latest panasonic top range hair dryer (16,000 yen) which only is only sold in Japan. we just love it so much.
The room is decent size, but very spacious, but i believe they do their best to provide a pleasant staying time for all visitors. at least we really enjoy our time in there.
