First of all, i hardly give hotel a review, but for one, I have to give some good feedback as it deserves.
Point 1) Very friendly staffs no matter what time you approach them and ask for information about Kyoto and help. Including early in the morning for breakfast or late even for their compliment supple.
Point 2) Hotel location is really convenient, so close to the train exit when we came from Osaka with 2 big 2 small luggages. (we took little time to find it as it entrance is in small alley) close to Gion, shopping street malls, bus stops.
Point 3) Interior design is modern while blending the traditional japanese artworks. In room facilities are very user friendly, good lighting design for your comfort, free movies on TV(in Aus is paid), amazed fancy shower set plus massage function, quite top range japanese toilet seat( heated, spray, blow dry, music), Humidifier plus Air-purifier(yes important is Kyoto is dry).
P.S. every room even equipped a Latest panasonic top range hair dryer (16,000 yen) which only is only sold in Japan. we just love it so much.
The room is decent size, but very spacious, but i believe they do their best to provide a pleasant staying time for all visitors. at least we really enjoy our time in there.

Off the beaten path, this house is great for a family of four. It is in a great location for food, access to subway yet quiet. It is an eco-house, with many impressive energy saving details. As well, we arrived late and the the fridge was stocked with food, so we didn't have to go out late at night. It was a truly local experience. We loved it.

I enjoyed my stay at Guesthouse Yahata. It has affordable price with clean rooms. The hotel is located in a very quite neighborhood. It was fun for me to experience tatami the first time. The owner is a very nice lady. She planned a one-day trip agenda with beautiful attractions while I was there. Also, I accidentally left my glasses while I was leaving to Tokyo. It was very kind of her to offered to mail it to my new hostel. Overall, I highly recommend this place.

Great location, tidy and has all the essentials. 4 star accommodation and lots of character for the adventurous seeking the local lifestyle.
Only downside are that beds are too hard, futons uncomfortable and not enough pillows.

This Hostel was very nice! Clean, Friendly and they even had activities occasionally.
I stayed in the girls dorm , you have storage under your bed (locker) for your suitcase and storage for your shoes. Location is nice also but its a little hard to find at first (It's located near a 7'11 which is nice when you need an ATM) , it's in central Kyoto where all the shopping is near huge malls and traditional stores near Kawaramachi station.
I was nervous at first since its shared bathrooms but it's very safe and easy they have one just for females on the 3rd floor. A kitchen and laundry on floor 5 ( also nice just clean up after yourself!)
Bar in the basement floor. (last call is 10:30pm bar closed at 11)
It's usually quite but when I stayed There were a couple Europeans talking loudly in the hallway , but only lasted maybe 5-10 min , just letting you know sometimes you can hear people but people usually are considerate of others in the night time. I didn't have any other problems.
The staff is very helpful and knows the area well , Erika was the sweetest ! very friendly!
The beds are twin size i guess? japanese style so their on the stiffer side but its still comfy.
you can rent a towel i think for 100yen (I brought my own)
The staff helped me a lot to figure out how to go from Kyoto Station to Osaka Kansai INTL airport.
If I ever need a hotel in Kyoto I will stay at this hostel and other location as well In Tokyo!
very nice I 100% recommend for budget travelers!
