My wife and I stayed one night with our 2 teenagers. Great experience! The hotel staff was very nice and spoke very good English. Very helpful with all our questions. The hotel was redone in 2011 and still looks great. Very clean. Short walk down to a very cool beach area with chairs, umbrellas, and a bar/snack bar.
Only 3 pieces of exercise equipment. Bike, treadmill, eliptical. Only the eliptical worked.
Parking area was a short walk away.
On the walk to the beach there is a grocery store and several small fruit stands. And a pharmacy.
Great experience and would go back again.
A nice hotel but situated about 5km out of Cefalù and it's all main roads so you have to drive.
The hotel has all the normal amenities and has a big car park for those requiring parking.
Breakfast was brilliant but dinner less so, I'd advise going in to Cefalù for the evening.
All in all a good base as long as you have a car.
Beautifully restored and maintained property. Quiet and peaceful. Though there were quite a few guests, it felt empty because of the way the rooms are distributed around the property. Definitely and older crowd though there is alot of hiking, biking and beach available. Breakfast buffet was quite nice. Staff was helpful when approached. Restaurant was competent but rather blah and the wait staff is a bit disorganized. The rooms were very nice as was the pool. It was a nice change after the hustle and bustle of Rome. If you have a car, it is a nice base for exploring.
This is just such a great place to stay on all fronts but one - the restaurant is appalling. Jaded, antiquated, and stuck in time. Music and singers dating back to the 50/60's and food of a very average or poor standard. (Except breakfast which is generally ok). One can only assume that family commitments are involved in the food side of things as this is privately owned. The staff, who are fully aware, have tried to tell the manager but falls on deaf ears apparently.
Shame because the position is great and the hotel/rooms/staff are fantastic.
Don't be put off - restaurants galore in Cefalu 10/15 minutes down the road (10 minutes to anything but 15 to the better restaurants in the old town.
You just might have to endure the horrible hotel music which may go on till 11.30-12.0 and you can get noisy kids coming from a nearby nightclub on Fri/Sat nights also.
Pool deep all along and not suitable for kids at all.
Very close to beach in centre of historic old town, this hotel exceeded my expectations. On the principle that you get what you pay for it's small, no fantastic views except on the roof but very clean, pleasant, comfortable in a simple basic way. Our bathroom and shower were very small but we got a double bed and a single for two. The only pain is that they don't serve breakfast. Otherwise recommended.

In the heart of the historical centre of Cefalù, a few metres from the Cathedral and the beach, "La Giara Hotel Restaurant" …More
Ideally placed for exploring Cefalu and near the train station if you wanted to travel further afield. Salvatore is an excellent host and makes you feel very welcome. His home is your home. Every morning, there was a vast array of food for breakfast and his mother's cakes are a real treat - different one every day.
If you want informal and comfortable surroundings then this is the place for you. Highly recommended!!
Rated one of Sicily’s loveliest resorts, this ancient fishing village on the Tyrrhenian coast is deservedly popular. Buildings crowd a rocky shelf below the hill of La Rocca, on which towers Cefalù’s Romanesque cathedral. Byzantine mosaics glitter within, a figure of Christ Pantocrator dominating the apse. Palms and ipalazzi/i line the square outside. King Roger’s palace, a medieval washhouse and the Museo Mandralisca are worth a visit.
