“Location Location Location”
This is a nice hotel in a wonderful location. My only complaints: be prepared to pay for parking and wireless. I expect to pay for parking in downtown Iowa City, but it's disappointing to have to pay for wireless, especially because free wireless is available at nearly every restaurant/coffee house and many locations throughout the city. Even hotels with lower star ratings offer free wireless. There is a distinct advantage to staying on the ped mall side of the hotel because if you sit by the window, even on the 7th floor, you can access the Iowa City Public Library's wireless connection, which was nice. We have a young child, and there is a park right outside of the hotel on the ped mall. That was very nice. Overall, we had a nice experience. I would return.
“Lovely city, lovely people, lovely hotel”
Iowa is a small city, no much options to choose from but difinitely will stay in sheraton if i had to visit Iowa..
“Great stay, great location.”
Location next to University of Iowa and Ped Mall allowed for convenient and pleasant dining experiences. Staff very courteous and helpful at registration, offering suggestions for local entertainment. Clean, well furbished rooms. Parking convenient though a more direct connection to the parking garage would be nice. Only complaint...no free internet access, though area wifi is marginally available.
“Sheraton - Iowa”
The hotel was very clean and the staff members were really friendly and helpful. Overall, my stay was pleasant and I will stay at this hotel again. I was on the 5th floor and I was surprised at how much outside noise I could hear, i.e. snow plows, sirens, etc. I was also disappointed to hear noise in the hall at 2:00 am for a facility of this stature. It's been a few years since I stayed at this particular hotel and I don't recall any noise issues in the past, so hopefully it was an isolated instance.
“Too noisy”
It took the staff 3 phone calls to get something done about a party that was in the room next to us. At 3:00 in the morning, we made the 3rd phone call and it was finally quiet. It was a sleepless night and we had to be at our daughter's graduation on very little sleep. Not what I was hoping for!
“Nice but noisy by the pool”
The hotel was nicely apointed, as was the room. However, we were on the 2nd floor by the pool and it was quite noisy -- one door led directly to the pool area and the room's only windows looked out over the pool area, and neither the door nor the windows were soundproofed at all. It was quite a contrast from the otherwise luxurious atmosphere. Also, in this day and age, for a hotel as prestigious as the Sheraton to charge for WIFI access seems ridiculous!
“not impressed”
While this hotel is in an excellent location right in the hub of Iowa City downtown and steps away from cafes, shops, restaurants and a yoga studio, the hotel front desk staff is poorly trained- they are trained to smile, be friendly and say "I'm sorry" but they have not been trained to solve problems, get back to guests with the solutions, and they are lacking in knowledge regarding the local area, directions, the local attractions, and services in the near by vicinity. -Several times during my stay, the TV channels were not working, including for the start of the USA world cup soccer game -the front desk help knew nothing about the pool and hours for lap swimming at the Rec center 2 blocks away -none of them knew anything about the Amana Colonies, one of few local attractions in the area Room Service was not very good - if we slept in, they did not come; sheets did not fit the beds well/or were put on poorly, came off easily when sleeping. I was surprised that the desk staff was so poorly prepared and trained - they came off as friendly, smiling airheads
“Nice place for relaxed but romantic weekend”
My gf and I stayed for the weekend. We enjoyed the central location of the hotel and the ability to walk around Iowa City. The room was also very comfortable.
“Park your Own Car Across the Street,Carry your Own Bags, & Dont mind PD in the Lobby?”
Upon our Arrival, there were appx 40 Teenagers in the Hotel Foyer from a Party in the Hotel, Loud and Running like Children in the Lobby..Also 3 Uniformed Police Officers....for "security". They should have been contained to "their" Hall. No Bell Service for our Bags. The Desk Manager came out, leaving her post, and couldnt lift the bags..... The 2 Double Beds were NOT "available", and we had 1 Full sized. A charge was incurred for the "cot". The Parking was "across the Street", another charge. The Staff was young and inexperienced. Not at ALL what a NYC visitor would expect from a Sheraton, and I am writing the Corporate Offices. I would also like a call from one of your Customer Service Managers. Thank you
“Extremely nice hotel”
you'll feel very comfortable
