Your Experience Says A Lot About A Hotel

Posted 20-Apr-2014
Experience starts with parking your vehicle. The way from the parking area to the lobby is not suitable for everyone. If someone has a certain degree of limitation with mobility, then never visit or stay in this hotel independently, unless there is valet. I believe there must be valet parking. It will be hard to believe if there was none. The lobby is horrendous. Check in takes too much time if waiting in an uncomfortably warm lobby. The rooms are pretty standard. Nothing remarkable. Thankfully I paid a promotional rate. For a promotional room rate in excess of $400 a night, I could find plenty other hotels locally (e.g. Shangri La, Crimson, Abaca, etc.) and around the world with better amenities for the same price point. The waterpark is definitely for the kids. I don't find it enjoyable for most adults. The hotel is low on esthetics. The architecture is really simplified. I'm not an architecture expert, but I found it tough to tie in the details I found on the exteriors, the interiors including the floor, the countertops, the tables, the chairs, the utensils, and many other things in a dining room/restaurant. A saving grace: The staff is on par with other hotels. The restaurant by the beach has awesome views and the feel is relaxing. The food is not worth mentioning though, just average. Awesome views and awesome food will have been a perfect combination.

Kids and kids at heart will love this place

Posted 10-Apr-2014
This is my family's favorite destination. And each time, we always have such a great time. As a frequent visitor they have valued our loyalty and rewarded us an upgrade to a suite room. Only concern and somewhat annoying experience we had is when my father went for the buffet breakfast, the staff at the door refused to let my father in because he is wearing a pair of slippers, and we had notice that others who are wearing the same slippers are let in. Is it because we are locals and other guests are foreigners? I hope this is just an oversight and not a common practice, if it is, then something is wrong here. The food price does not come cheap. Prepare to pay big bucks for food and drinks. Otherwise, our overall experience here is great. The kids had so much fun at the water park. The hotel and resort staff are great with customer service. The facility is well kept and very clean.

Good and bad

Rooms and hotel are very nice. Facilities are very underwhelming. Bills itself as a water park but I did everything in 30 minutes then was bored. Often felt like I paid to be in prison. Canceled 2nd night and went to Shangri-La.

Not again

This is a 3 stars hotel claiming and charging a 7 star experience. If you're okay with that then you'll enjoy your stay. The workers were very friendly and wanting to please. The breakfast buffet was included in the rate and had a good Korean, Japanese, and American sections of food. Everything else was mediocre.

Great resort

Posted 12-Nov-2013
Pros: The waterpark and the spa
Cons: other foreign hotel guests
Location: in a remote area but there is a supermarket and a restaurant just outside the entrance to hotel
Imperial Hotel was amazing. They upgraded my wife and I to a suite for our honeymoon. The hotel wasn't too full since we arrived a few weeks after a huge earthquake. The suite was large and roomy and the king sized bed was epic. I got a spa for myself and my wife and it was worth every penny. The water park was great fun and really makes the resort. The beach area was sub par and very rocky when you compare it against the nearby Shangri-La resort. Target customers are Russians and Koreans. Maybe due to cultural differences, the asian target customers attitudes made the experience less than excellent so I give this only 4 stars.

A hotel you would only try once

Posted 04-Nov-2013
Pros: Nothing really
Cons: The facilities, looks like they depreciated pretty fast.
Location: I thought it was near the airport, another disappointment.
I was really disappointed to see the hotel. I have been hearing good reviews about this hotel that I was willing to spend a little more. In the end, I feel like I didn't get value for my money.

Fun for young and old

Posted 01-Sep-2013
Pros: The water park is huge and lots of fun. The staff are attentive and eager to please. The food and drink available at the restaurants is delicious.
Cons: The cost of accommodation is quite high, given our "garden view" room was a view of the casino under construction. The food is also expensive.
Location: There is little around the hotel but it is a short ride into Cebu if you want to do some shopping. The resort is also close to Mactan Shrine.
Imperial Palace Waterpark Resort and Spa is a great place for families. I went with my partner but as we visited during August the resort was not full and we didn't feel overwhelmed by children. I would advise couples to stay away for the peak months of December and January. It is worthy staying for the water park alone. There are several different areas to play in, including giant water slides, a wave pool and a pool bar. The customer service is fantastic; the staff are very friendly and helpful. There are five restaurants and two stand-alone bars to choose from, one of which has karaoke rooms for hire. The food and drink on offer is fantastic, however it is overpriced, as is the room rate. There is not much to do outside the resort but it is a short, cheap taxi ride to Cebu. This is a great place to choose for a short stay but the costs would accumulate very quickly if you stayed for a week or more.
