“Excellent hotel, great location.”

The Sea Palace is very conveniently located to explore the coast from Catania to Etna and beyond. Driving is not particularly relaxing but ok if you behave as the locals do! The staff at the hotel were very pleasant, attentive and also extremely helpful following a small problem we encountered early in our holiday. The food in the hotel is excellent and the local restaurants in Acitrezza are superb. Not necessarily haute quisine but excellent value for money. Walking from the hotel to Acitrezza is not for the faint hearted even though it is only a few hundred metres. A very pleasant and relaxing experience.

“Scenic,Convenient and Comfortable”

The hotel is located on a rocky shoreline, with beautiful views,the property is well kept and very clean. It is located about 10 miles from the airport and on the northern side of Catania, which allows travel around Sicily without going into the hectic parts of the city. Warning: people drive crazy in the city... The ocean water is very clear and cool, great for snorkeling, and the deck overlooking the ocean is perfect for relaxing. Overall the hotel,staff and food was tremendous....

“Galatea Sea Palace - should I stay or should I go”

The hotel staff/bar staff are very nice, friendly and accomadating.On arrival I was not happy with the condition of the shower in the room and we were immediately ungraded to a cleaner and larger room that suited us much better.Initially we found the reception given by the restaurant staff a little cold and we felt we were an impossition when we went to dine there.They had no english and so ordering food is difficult if you've no italian.This was a pitty as the rest of the staff were excellent.Accitrezza as an area is very limited for european tourists.Restaurants are few unless you want pizza all the time and are closed from mid afternoon til 8-9pm.Again the reception from the staff seemed very unwelcoming and made us uncomfortable.I had passable italian to get by and perhaps they didn't like that.There is a pizza/pasta place across from the hotel that had good food,excellent bruchette and friendly staff and as a result we ate there for most of the holiday.The area seemed to be geared towards Italians on holiday and not for other europeans.We visited for a sicilian wedding which was superb but would not rush back to the area.If you speak italian and want a quiet time then it's for you.

“two star service @ four star prices”

this hotel is in need of an overhaul. the paintwork is peeling and there is a general air of dereliction. the shower and balcony had bits of plaster falling on them each day. the exposed concrete of the balconies is stained and crumbling. there were no cushions available for the sunloungers. it was very very unconfortable to try to lay and relax and read etc without cushions. finally we went and bought some mats in a local shop. the staff in the restaurant which is not part of the hotel were not the most friendly and the prices generally were very high. the impression was of a travel lodge not a four star hotel. the breakfast was the same every day, scrambled eggs, with the usual choice of yoghurts and croissants. we stayed a week, but imagine eating that for two weeks. the walk to the nearest town is extremely dangerous, full of smelly rubbish and a few squashed cats. if you want to go to sicily, DONT GO TO THIS HOTEL. we were very disappointed and when we complained to the receptionist he just shrugged.
