Picture did not reveal the interior!

Pros: The location of the hotel is great.
Cons: See above.
Location: See above.
The picture and description on the advertisement was not a true representation of the hotel. The lobby was shabby, not overly clean, and the staff had a very casual attitude. The public restroom was dirty, without towels or soap. Our room was moderately clean and the bed comfortable, the only thing that kept us from checking out. We did not have a bathmat, the towels were old and few, no coffee maker (I found out later you could request one) and it took 3 hours to get a package of decaf coffee, also we did not have a clock. When someone reported that the ceiling tile was falling on the third floor, there was a casual response "Was it in your room?" When the guest said it was in the hallway the staff person just passed the situation off. All in all, the hotel management and staff need to be trained in inn keeping.

Old fashioned victorian hotel

Posted 18-May-2015
Pros: Convenient and quaint.
Lovely hotel within walking distance of boat ramp. Right in the center of the lovely city of Avalon. It is old so the bathroom was very small and it took a long time to get hot water. But the staff was very friendly and we loved our stay.

Posted 25-Apr-2015
Pros: Old time look with the new ammenties
Location: what everything you could want or need is within 4 blocks any direction
Much more then expected. received a king size bed upgrade when we checked in. got to the island early and able to store our luggage before check in and start our island investigation, returned later, checked in with no problems. morning breakfasts were simple, but hit the spot. always someone at the front desk to answer any questions. will stay again.

Historical hotel

Posted 15-Apr-2015
Pros: History
Cons: Sound attenuation
Location: Everything was nearby
Unfortunately noisy from the late parties at the adjacent bar, the hotel was very nicely upgraded since it had much historical value. Very comfortable accommodations and the hotel employees were very kind and professional.

Not worth my money

Posted 10-Apr-2015
Pros: Location. It was centrally located to everything.
Cons: Clean the lobby and the rooms more carefully.
Location: It was centrally located to everything.
The lobby was dirty, stains on the carpet, we found trash under our bed, hair from other people on the bed and shower. The knob in one of the drawers was broken.

Nicely updated rooms!

Posted 06-Apr-2015
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. And that jet tub!!
Cons: Updates to the lobby
Location: Mini golf just down the road, 1-2 minute walk from the beach!
The lobby was dated and old looking. We were also concerned when the couple in front of us was complaining about their rom being dirty upon check-in. Sean & Jimmy were very accommodating to them & resolved it quickly. We were able to upgrade to a King bed room from a 2queen room. Sean also offered to store our bags until our room was ready as we had arrived a few hours before check-in time. We stayed in Room302. It was perfect! Updated & clean with King bed, breakfast table, fridge & flatscreen TV. the bathroom was very great too & featured a JET TUB! The tub worked great & the bed was very comfortable (pillow top mattress) The hotel had some quirks. Awkward layout, varying floor pitches, no elevator but it was very clean, fresh paint, new carpets. They were still in the process of updating rooms, lobby bathrooms etc, but that didn't interrupt our stay. Continental breakfast in the morning was nice. Bagels, pastries, fruit, coffee & juice. Sean and Jimmy were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay! We will be back for sure :)

Nice hotel. Steps to the beach.

This was a wonderful little hotel. Nice family owned staff. Newly upgraded rooms. Refrigerator and microwave in the room. Luggage room available for baggage before and after check out. Beach towels available upon request as well. Perfect for my family. Only downside was unexpected cost of bringing an extra child added when I checked in. Otherwise great experience.

Traditional style hotel excellently reappointed

Posted 28-Mar-2015
We chose this hotel from a dozen listed online. The owner has kept the traditional feel of the original design but has renovated all the rooms beautifully. Fresh paint, new carpet, small refrigerator, flat screen tv's, clean and comfortable bed all go towards making the rooms bright, welcoming and great value for money. The front desk staff are polite, cheerful, warm and helpful. Along with the free breakfast and central location, this hotel is a gem. I would definitely stay at the Glenmore Plaza Hotel again.
