“Nice hotel in a quiet neighborhood”

If you want to stay at the beach but don't want to be right in all the touristy stuff in Estoril or Cascais, this hotel is great. Nice rooms, very helpful staff and a very short walk down to a big beach (although the water is freezing) that's mostly frequented by locals who take the coastal train line from Lisbon. Speaking of that, it's an easy 5 minute walk down to the train station with Lisbon about 8 stops down in one direction, or Estoril and Cascais about 6 stops down in the other direction. Very convenient for seeing the entire Lisbon coast region. Oh, and the free buffet breakfast in the restaurant on the top floor with the awesome view of the ocean is a nice bonus. Overall a very nice place that I would definitely stay at again.

“an excellent experience in every way.”

the location, room, restaurant, food, service and staff were all excellent. be aware the taxi from the airport to the hotel is about 50 euros each way , which is 100 us dollars ! the beach is across the street and the rail station is about a 10 minute walk.the area is clean, safe, and beautiful.

“Excellent Family Hotel”

Stayed at the Hotel Praia Mar in Carcavelos over the Easter break in 2008. The hotel is very well located within a very short walk to the beach. Also very close by car to the city of lisboa and other beach resorts such as Cascais. Hotel room was very spacious and a cot for our baby was setup prior to our arrival. Excellent hotel which we look forward to going back to soon.

“Excellent Hotel Stay Carcavelos Lisbon”

Hotel Praia Mar in Carcavelos is a vey good hotel. The breakfast was very good. I used the resturant to in the evening. Good choice on the menu and excellent table service. The room was clean, comfortable and serveced everyday efficiently. The staff were very helpful and spoke good english. I chose this hotel for many things but the main choice is that it has a car park, which was secure. I would recomend this hotel to anyone. Its only five minutes from the beach, rail links to Lisbon and buses to neighbouring areas. Top Notch

Close to the beach, and easy access to the train station for the 20 min ride into downtown Lisbon. Very nice.

“Great weekend escape”

This hotel has a really nice feel and character to it which comes from the fact that it was the first in the area I'm told. It has obviously been updated since then and in fact quite recently by the looks, though has some old-style photos from back in the day. The rooms themselves are fairly standard in size and appointments, though i'd definitely recommend going for a sea-view room - i didn't see the other rooms but the balcony out front which faces the ocean and overlooks the pool really made it for me. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, especially those in the restaurant which is on the top floor of the hotel and has a commanding view out to sea and all around.

“Away from town”

If you want a hotel away from the frantic pace of city life, you will like this one. The beach was in easy walking distance. The surfers were working some small waves and the sun was shining. April is possibly too early for the beach life in Portugal, but my trip was not really for fun in the sun. There is a metro station two blocks from the hotel and the easy and cheap way to go to Lisbon. I did not find out why Thursday cost 4 times the price of the rest of the week.

“Decent hotel for a cheap price”

If you are looking for a relaxing vacation in Portugal, this hotel is a decent place to stay. It is very close to the beach, but unfortunately not really close to anything else. There isn't even a small grocery store near by and all of the restaurants close weren't too appealing. The description of the hotel states it is close to the airport, which isn't the case. It cost us over 50 euro taxi fare to get from the airport to the hotel. Fortunately there is a little train station about 10 minutes walking distance away that can take you into Lisbon.

“Good hotel - but not quite as luxurious as described”

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights, and it's got a brilliant breakfast, is close to an amazing beach, and is generally very nice. We were hoping that because it is advertised as four star, that we'd get a bit of luxury. Unfortunately our twin beds were ridiculously hard, and there was no mini bar or even pay for view TV - so we were a bit disappointed about that. It was our first trip to Portugal - so I can't compare it to any other local hotels - but overall it was good, but just not quite as comfy as we'd pictured!

“A friendly Lisbon Coast hotel”

Well situated for the beach and local railway station, an ideal getaway to mix with mainly Portuguese holiday makers.Staff were very friendly, and couldn't have done more to make our stay a memeorable one. Good size, unheated, pool with diving board was popular, and our fellow holiday makers all appeared to be having a relaxing time - we heard no complaints from anyone.Only gripe for us was the rather firm beds, and the lack of any balcony furniture - we had a superb coastal view from our balcony, but no tables and chairs were available. Same superb view from eighth floor restaurant, and plenty of good quality breakfast fare. Lovely sandy beach, and a few good promenade restaurants from which to choose.
