We stayed here for 6 days and it was an excellent hotel. The best thing was the location - amazing sea views. Lovely cove and caves that could be accessed at low tide. Good pool facilities, again with that breathtaking view. Staff were helpful and usually friendly. Our room was huge with big balcony.
My only negatives were that there was no hot tub - there was a "Jacuzzi" but the water was cool and it didn't work after the first day.
The restaurant food was ok. We could have used a better pool bar menu as we mainly wanted to stay by the pool.
If you do book (and I recommend it) make sure to pay the extra for a sea view room. It is worth it.
I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights as a single traveller. The room was lovely, the decor was contemporary and the king size bed was great. The pool and grounds were beautiful, well maintained and perfect for relaxing and enjoying the sun. There was only a small number of children staying at the hotel and that for me was also a bonus as it meant a quieter and more relaxed atmosphere. The spa was fantastic, I had a great facial and massage and used the sauna, jacuzzi and steam room everyday. The only small disappointment for me was the food, the buffet breakfast was good although wasn't really restocked so if you arrived later the choice was limited, the food at the pool bar was nice but the evening buffet was disappointing and over priced. This was just a small disappointment in an otherwise really enjoyable stay and I'd definitely go back again. Highly recommended.
The hotel is really about 100 small houses clustered round a pool/bar/restaurant. There is not much else in the vicinity. We had a rental car, which I think is a necessity unless you want to walk about 45 mins to the nearest town on Cavieros. Some of those roads have no pavement btw. The resort is clean and in good repair. The only bad thing I could think of was there was some green growth on the white plastic drain for the outside pool. Little house was very roomy, and it had air conditioning that worked. Everything was clean and in good repair. Friendly and helpful staff. I'd stay there again.
Perfect for that quiet holiday. Ok there is entertainment in the main square until 12, but after that the night is yours.
A night in or enjoy the local bars. Beach literally a 1 minute walk away, although there are a few more to enjoy only a 10 minute walk a way!
"Spacious and relaxing but could have better pool"
We had 2 bed townhouse, accommodation is lovely, very spacious, bright and airy, patio doors from both bedrooms and lounge open onto manicured grounds with private patio area table & chairs and sun beds. The resort is beautiful and well maintained with lovely grounds and has a calm, relaxing feel.
My only gripe is the pool which is too small for the hotel and the surrounding area felt cramped with not enough sun beds for all. Strangely, next to the pool is a large, bland water area which looks as though it should be a pool but is used as a pond and could be put to better use.
I would like to mention a member of staff, Vanessa, who was a fabulous hostess.
Rocha Brava enabled us to have the freedom of an independent holiday with the convenience of facilities of a hotel or complex. The villa was well equipped, clean and with a private back garden. It felt as though we were just in a small village with the great amenities of the tennis courts, gym, pool, coffee shop, supermarket and restaurant.
Ana in reception was very helpful, friendly and efficient when she organised a day trip for us and also arranged for a broken interior door handle to be fixed.
Wifi at the pool bar is free and easy accessible but the resort wide wifi reception around the resort is sporadic.
Had a lovely stay sat the Pestana Palm Gardens. A range of different sized properties set in stunning gardens. Beautifully maintained pool area. Great restaurant & fantastic , friendly & helpful staff across the board!!! 20 minute walk into town - steep hill on the way back. We stayed in a very well equipped studio - exceptional maid service. Tiny but functional bathroom. Would suggest a bell at pool bar if left un-manned & shame there isn't a shop on site but other than that perfect & so peaceful! Would highly recommend for couples & families & very much hope to return!!
