I stayed at the Tivoli Portimao with my husband and our 22 month old son. The apartments were really bright and spacious and had everything you'd need for a self catering holiday.
The best thing about the resort is that it is managed by the Tivoli hotel group. Although the hotel is rated 4 star, the staff go out of their way to ensure that you have a 5 star experience.
The breakfast buffet was fantastic with a good selection to suit everyone. I would highly recommend this hotel
The hotel has a great location. The hotel is by the beach offering amazing views of sea. There are lots of restaurants & shops nearby. The rooms are clean, and the facilities are excellent. The breakfast is good. It includes hot food, pastries, fruits, and a range of different juices as well as tea/coffee. The only downside is the free wifi. The internet is very very very slow.
Our room smelled a bit like smoke, but the hotel addressed this up front, and did a very thorough cleaning the next day that took care of the problem. The staff person (Andrea, I believe) was extremely conscientious and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much. The breakfast facilities are decent, too, and we enjoyed our meals. I am not sure the hotel really offers a "sea view" as a building blocks most of the rooms for having this. A great staff person again makes all the difference.

From check in, to the minute I left, it was hard to find fault with anything during my stay. The only let down, was the disappointing weather....not something they are responsible for!! It should be highlighted when booking that the main Bar area, is closed out of season but that wasn't a major issue and should have been pointed out by the holiday booking operator. The minimarket was also sparsely stocked but again this was due to it being out of season and all basics were still available.
The nearest supermarket is a Lidl, which is approx a 15 minute walk from the resort. Lots of good restaurants within walking distance and a courtesy bus to the local beaches. A quiet location, with no real nightlife, other than the restaurants and surprisingly, a rather sleazy looking strip club??
Just came back from a stay at this hotel, which was close to the beach, bars and restaurants. The staff were extremely pleasant and efficient. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the breakfast extremely good. Would more than happily stay there again, wish all hotels were this good.
Staff at the Vale d'Oliveiras Quinta Resort show that they understand customer service. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel genuinely welcome. Like much of the area, signposting and road markings are rare so the drive from Faro had been "interesting" so it was a great relief to be looked after so well by the reception staff on arrival. The hotel room was clean and quiet (in the end always the two most important factors). The bed was on the hard side for us but the hotel staff responded immediately when we asked and added comfortable mattress toppers. The bathroom was good although ventilation, lighting and ease of getting in and out of the shower/bathtub could have been better Food was good and the waiters knowledgeable and attentive. Gym and pool staff were very helpful and, as in the hotel generally, spoke good English.
