It would be easy to pick faults with the hotel but we had a large comfortable room with good facilities, great internet connection and excellent breakfast. The central location was ideal for us to walk everywhere.
The staff was very welcoming and the rooms were clean and well decorated with all facilities both clean and well stocked, the staff couldn't do enough for as we checked out go to my daughters graduation they very kindly let us leave our luggage in the store room .
A modern, friendly hotel ideal for a short getaway. Perfect location for the younger person as right on the doorstep of clubs and pubs, we were given a quiete room at the back so noise was not a problem.

excelle t place to stay, both handy for visiting Carlisle and touring Hadrians wall. Rooms were immaculate and the bistro which has just opened this season looks really good. Breakfast excellent and lovely hosts.
We enjoyed a pleasant and relaxing stay at East View Guest House which was a change from the norm staying at the Hallmark or Ibis as it was much nicer to be able to support a local business than a chain hotel. The bedrooms were cosy, quiet area, 5 mins walk to town and the train station and the breakfast selection excellent. Julie gave us a warm welcome and made up a breakfast tray for me as I left early.

Everyone at Arkale lodge is wonderfully friendly and helpful the breakfast is great and the rooms are comfortable. As with all the B&Bs on the main roads in Carlisle the front rooms are noisy but as I am a sensitive sleeper I asked if I could go to the back and Patrick was great about the swap.
I wandered in after walking 28 miles of Hadrian's Wall, the staff were fantastic and realised I probably wasn't fully "there"... The room service was quick, with large portions and was very good!
They looked after my bigger bag, offered a decent breakfast, and were friendly and positive throughout my stay.

It brought to mind a manor house past its former glory, but all the more fascinating for that fact.
Beautiful manicured lawns and gardens with its own woods. The rooms were extremely spacious and beautifully clean, look recently painted with a huge shared sitting room through each bedroom door which could be individually locked.
Our view was over the terrace (needed some tarting up) and one of the formal gardens towards the River Eden with another riverside estate in the distance. The owner was wonderfully welcoming (with a touch of eccentricity). We were lucky enough to be there when a lovely art exhibition was taking place in the converted stables. Also the raspberries were in season in the beautiful, walled garden, (in need of a little TLC) a delightful walk along the river bank away, where all guests were invited to make the most of the fruit. We would have stayed here for days if time had allowed.
