Arrived at 5pm, needing to rest, having booked a Superior Room. Unfortunately, "Winter Wonderland" was in full swing immediately outside, as well as the tv not working. Reception said the fair would finish at 10pm and that it wasn't a problem for other guests.
We asked to be moved and were downgraded, but away from the noise. The heating did not function. At 7pm, we were finally moved to another room, which was satisfactory. Two hours wasted - we could not even use the pool, or spa by this time. Reception kindly offered to refund the £10 price difference on the room we were eventually allocated.
In the morning, we arrived early for breakfast. We waited in the doorway as instructed, and waited some time before we were seated. The continental breakfast was quite pleasant, but the cooked breakfast, on the other hand, was terrible. Nothing appeared to be freshly cooked, even though we were amongst the first in the dining room. Bacon was like cardboard, the sausages were overcooked and tasteless, and the eggs were like rubber (and when I checked the menu, they were supposed to be cooked to order).
Had I not prepaid for our stay, i would have refused to pay when checking out.
Staff didn't seem to care. We were told "sorry".
4 stars - absolutely not in my book.
