“nice hotel”
The hotel and the amenities are great, especially the swimming pool, whirlpool and sauna. Restaurant was a bit too expensive for our taste. Thank goodness we had breakfast included in the price of the room. Very nice location.

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel, staff were very helpful. We used the pool and found everything very clean.

Well furnished large room and very good quality bedding. Nice bathroom. Good buffet breakfast though bacon and eggs were used up at 9.40 and we had to ask for staff to resupply. Location not ideal for Cardiff centre- but close by Culverhouse cross M & S for shopping. Expedia rate was quoted as room only but actually got us breakfast as well- nice!
“Very nice hotel”
Loved the city, sights and nightlife. The service at the hotel was excellent too but (!) the hotel could do with a bit of modernising better and cleaning.
“More central than you think”
We booked this hotel thinking it were out of town (ad said close to airport) but the truth of the matter is that it is a 5 minute drive down the freeway into Penarth and a further 5 minutes into town, so if you do have a car I would thoroughly recommend it over hotels in the centre of Cardiff. Nice location too, fairly quite with a retail park within walking distance. Staff were excellent too, most helpful, polite and friendly which made the stay all the more welcome.
“Good hotel at a prime location”
The hotel is easy to find with excellent access to the M4 motorway and link road into Cardiff city areas. There are also 3 retail parks nearby if shopping in the city isnt for you. A large free car park also makes it value for money if youre a driver. But... the rooms could do with some refurbishment as they look a little tired,the beds are not comfortable either. The breakfast although a buffet was a bit overpriced but there is a nice bar with good food. Will recommend the hotel to anyone with a car as the location of the hotel is unbeatable for getting around
“Recommended Cardiff hotel”
If your looking for a decent hotel in Cardiff, this one is an option. Hotel is well presented with very friendly staff. Secure parking is available. Rooms were very nice which included a large, very comfy bed. Overall very nice stay.
“Good location if you have a car”
Good hotel located near M4. You need a car if you intended getting around.
“Comfortable and Convenient, but not pretty - and beware breakfast charges.”
This hotel did what we needed - provided a convenient and comfortable base for a weekend break visiting relatives. However, the view on the hotel website is very misleading: the 'lake' is tiny, and the hotel is actually surrounded by roads and a retail park! Our room was very comfortable, although dark mock-colonial is not really our style, it's only a hotel after all! The spa was good for an early morning work-out: nice clean swimming pool, gym and sauna. After getting a favourable room-rate, the charge for breakfast seemed excessive, so we trotted over to the big M&S where we had outstanding breakfasts (waitress served!) for half the Copthorne price.
