“Totally Honest! Works well.”
This hotel is about 600 metres walk to La Cite (outstanding) and about 1km walk to the old city. Rooms are well set up with a small functional kitchen, separate bathroom and toilet. Large double glazed doors keep out street noise and the apartments are very secure with roll down shutters on the external windows and a large security gated courtyard. It doesn't look great from outside but it all works well in the areas where you live. I left my attaché with my passport, licence etc and my wallet with cash, credit cards etc on the roof of the car and accidentally drove off from the carpark. They were handed in untouched and the office staff returned them to me. Thank you and I thoroughly recommend this establishment to others.
“A prison cell would have been more comfortable”
Great location with free parking but the trade is the most unpleasant room experience ever, corridor was damp with mould , bed was a single cabin bed with foam mattress and a fold up extension to make it a soy le, but aeorrate, no bedside tables and a window like a goldfish bowl that everyone stared in at as you sat on your put me up bed to watch tv, seriously aggrieved!
“The only good point is it's proximity to Carcassone walled city.”
We arrived to find that the "2" rooms we had booked were a bedroom and a lounge with a pull out bed. No outside play area, pool very crowded. We had to remove our rubbish (OK with that) and take it outside the gates to dispose of - don't forget the code to use the gate!! So no rubbish facilities on site. We had one snack in the room and as soon as I put the food on the table the ants appeared; great incentive for my youngest who was on the floor bed. Very close to the city and a nice continental breakfast but that's the only positives really.
“Near Old City of Carcassonne”
Hotel was comfortable and had good room for a family of four. Our only criticism was that the dishes did not seem completely clean when we opened the dishwasher containing the dishes used by the previous occupants. Apart from that, the rooms were clean and comfortable.
“Does what it says on the tin”
Very good location for Le Cite in Carcassonne - 5 mins walk. Plenry of parking in secure compound onsite. Friendly staff. Basic but clean rooms, ideal for families. Swimming pool very popular, but not intrusive (we were above it). Kitchen useful as unusually for France, eating out was a disappointment (unless you can afford £50 a meal). However there were no consumables supplied, so you will need to buy/take washing up liquid, scourers etc We would be willing to try other of the Residhotel properties.
“New, modern,clean”
It was a bit of a pain waiting for the reception to open but staff were friendly and helpful when they arrived at 4.00. Rooms have to be left cleaned - you can pay the hotel to clean for you - bit pricey- or clean it yourselves. High security -electric shutters-doors-gates. Furniture, linen all new. Rooms large. Good kitchen but no bottle openers supplied. Bathrooms superb. Towels supplied. For the money you cant fault the place. We just found it all to be a bit on the sterile side. Superb parking area and nice pool although crowded. Gave you a key and code to get in late. Would stay again.
“Residhotel was like the curate's egg-good in parts.”
I arrived at 1pm in absolutely torrential rain and of course the reception was closed till 4pm. However a kind hotel cleaner took pity on us and another family who had arrived at the same time and let us leave our luggage in an empty room. When we finally got into the room it was acceptable. The studio flat was spacious and very clean The toilet was also roomy with a wet room type shower area. The towels were clean and fluffy but were not changed the whole week I was there. However in the bathroom was a fan wall heater thing that I used to dry the towels. The kitchen area was also very clean and had adequate plates ,cups, cutlery etc. The bed was a curious sofa bed affair but comfortable enough. However I was sleeping on the pull-out/fold-down part of the sofa bed arrangement and every time I turned over the bed squeaked like mad. Very annoying and not good for restful sleep. The swimming pool was clean. The location of the hotel was ideal for the old walled city but further away from the newer part of town. The hotel receptionists were friendly and helpful about local information etc. So to sum up-the good parts were the nearness to the old town and the cleanness of the facilities, the bad parts were the squeaky bed and the restricted reception hours.
“Carcasonne 1”
Very convenient location - lietrally 5 minutes from the walled city. Plenty of space in the room. Staff helpful on arrival. Main problem was inability to hang up towels in bathroon as it was designed to look good rather than be functional.
“Convenient location for Le Cite and more than adequate for self-catering.”
We chose this quite late on and it was more than adequate. It was very handy for walking to Le Cite and for all the main roads out of Carcassonne.
“Surrey couple on hols!!”
The hotel is functional, clean and ideal for the old city and its restaurants. We were however disappointed to find we had a bed settee set up as our double bed, which, being foam, with a wooden surround, wasn't good. But it remains good value for money. If you go to the citie to eat, PLEASE avoid La Rapp[er, which you pass on the way there. It is over priced and very poor food, even though it braggs speciality cassolulet. Its rubish and a TOTAL RIP OFF, unlike the others in the centre. There are several bakers within easy walking distance for gorgeous bread, etc
