“Lovely Stay in Carcassonne”

Hotel was lovely. Room was basic but that was all we paid for - could have upgraded if we wished. No safe or fridge in room which would have been great - however couldn't fault the cleanliness and the amazing view. 5 minutes walk to old city - very quiet neighbourhood. Breakfast was more than adequate and better than in most continental hotels. Man on reception was on telephone when we arrived and wasn't very attentive. He sent us to our room where the chambermaid was still cleaning - felt sorry for her and it was tiresome having to stand outside room with cases for 15 minutes. Other than this everyhting was great. In comparison the lady who checked us out and booked us a taxi was lovley.

Area recommendations
The Old City is very special - lots of cobbled streets - full of character.
Shopping
In the new part of the city you will find great shops - a wonderful Monopriz.

“Well equipped hotel”

This hotel was an ideal base to explore Carcassonne. It is located just outside the old city walls (5 minute stroll), making sightseeing easy and relaxing. The rooms are very comfortable, and the bathrooms are both spacious and modern! A bit of a treat in Europe. Aside from a somewhat surly staff member, the hotel experience was very enjoyable! There is also ample parking if you are driving through.

Area recommendations
We went to explore the old city and this really must not be missed. I have heard, and can easily imagine, that summer is a struggle with millions of people crammed in the walls but October was ideal! Not a ghost town but very easy to get about. Unfortunately, we didnt care much for the new town - scruffy and somewhat unpleasant atmosphere. However, I would recommend a canal boat trip - going through the locks is a unique experience!

“Primarily good”

There were many good things about the hotel - its location near the ancient city, it was easy to find, the staff at the desk tried to be helpful, for the most part, the room was lovely and clean; however there were bad things - our room was as far from the only open outside access as possible, which caused two problems. To get from outside to our room, we had to go throught the front entrance all the way through the hotel, which was uncessary. If only one of the many doors leading to the outside, either on the parking lot or deck, had been open, this would have been far preferable. More of a problem was our need for wi-fi and the fact that it was not available in our room. After speaking repeatedly to one desk clerk who would apparently not believe the wi-fi did not work, then learning on check out that this problem has occured in our room previously because of its remote location, I was left with using my computer sitting in a hallway near the desk. There was no offer of charging us less for our room (which was expensive given the fact it was off-season) or offering any other form of compensation, which was poor.

“Could do better”

During our visit the daytime temperatures were around 28C which meant that we needed to run the air conditioning when we were in our room. Unfortunately the a/c in our room and in the room next door was not working. It took us until the second day to convince the hotel staff that this was the case after which we were moved to another room. However we had the impression that the hotel maintenance could have been better. The restaurant was understaffed which meant that the service was very slow. This was not a major problem since there were plenty of other restaurants nearby but it did not encourage us to eat in the hotel. Having said all this the staff were very pleasant and helpful. When our return flight was cancelled owing to a stike by the French air traffic controllers, the check-in staff went out of their way to assist.

“Great location comfortable hotel”

Easy reach of both Carcassonne town centre and mediaeval centre. Staff very welcoming and helpful - room comfortable and suitable for the 2 nights that we stayed.

Area recommendations
Visit the mediaeval city - not that you can miss it, though it is quite eerily empty at the start of April with a number of the restaurants etc not yet open for the season. The town is also interesting and the river for some good walks, views and shopping.

“A real jewel at the foot of the Medieval City ... can't wait to return!”

Room was small, but lovely and beautifully situated with balcony overlooking the terrace. Excellent service, staff were really friendly and the food was of a very high quality. Overall a fantastic experience. Very impressed.

“Great place-ask for a view room”

The hotel is really nice. It is just a 5minute walk to the walled city, Having free parking was great. When we made the reservation we requested a 2nd floor room with a view. It is great--especially at night when they light up the old city.

Area recommendations
Being just outside the wall is great. , and that's where this hotel is.
