“Great location”

This hotel is in an ideal location, near the station and the Canal du Midi and within easy walking distance of La Bastide and the medieval Cite. The decor in the hotel reflects when it opened (1914), with an impressive foyer (marble floors, lots of huge mirrors, gilding, elaborate light fittings and staircases), yet it has a reasonable swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam room on the lower floor. Bedrooms are quite well furnished and they have made an effort to include some period pieces as well as the fitted wardrobes etc. The staff are delightful - very friendly and helpful at all times. The menu in the restaurant is good and the quality of the food is very good.

“Old-fashioned character.”

Lovely old building, slightly shabby in places but good value. Staff fine and room was available at 11AM. Very handy for station and airport bus drop-off.

This hotel has a perfect central location, a nice in-house brasserie, pretty interiors and a lovely receptionist (who seems to speak every language under the sun!).

“too far from city”

hotel is clean and comfortable, but decor and fittings very old. It is too far from the old city, and near the station which is noisy.

“not impressed”

this hotel had been very nice once but now was looking rather old and tired. the breakfast was fine. there were no fire regulations in the room but were in the corridor which i found strange. i didn't particularly like the 'we have counted all the towels and bedding in this room' that was in the bathroom. the staff were helpful.

“Perfect for Carcasonne!”

Please dont be put off by people telling you this is a noisy hotel, its fab and in a super location! Our room was a superior room and we had two double beds, I had a wonderful sleep. By the way the cinema is right next door, dont do what we did and search the whole town before realising this! The food we had was really nice at meal times, breakfast was a bit of a shambles but if you know how to work the egg boiler machine you should be ok ( 8 mins ) We had a castle view, really great at night. The staff are mostly friendly but dont ask for a taxi because they are useless and will advise you call your own! We missed an important meeting because of this.

Reception staff cool and frosty, even when we tried to communicate in french.Finding the hotel was tricky and parking even worse, when asked about hotel parking just told no, hotel very full. When asked for double room, not twin again told no, hotel full. Condition of areas seen from the street were so much better than rooms and corridors, which were extremely tired, shabby and faded. The general pervading smell of overcooked fish did not help the ambience. Room very loud, from road and inside- creaking doors and floorboards. You guessed, no not able to move rooms, hotel full. Beds and bedding old and shabby, wall paper peeling. Bar/ breakfast staff sullen, although good choice at breakfast, if you like processed food. Would never go back or recommend this hotel.
