“Nice hotel, sold on the view”
A nicer 3-star hotel, with comfortable rooms, largely marketed on the view of Carcassone as it is just over the river and has the late-day and evening view of the ramparts and castle. Biggest disappointment was they advertiise cocktail hour service at a riverside bar across the street, with view, but it never opened up. Service is professional; not as warm as in many smaller hotels but correct. Make sure you've got a good map showing directions on the one-way streets; consider calling ahead for instructions about parking which is convenient but not visible when you pull up to the hotel.
“Good hotel but disappointed that the panoramic restaurant was closed”
The hotel is conveniently located for exploring both the old and new areas of the city. The only disappointment was that the panoramic restaurant was not open during our stay. This restaurant was highly recommended in the Lonely Planet guide to France, and we had hoped to have dinner there. I would still recommend the hotel, but if the restaurant is of interest to you then I recommend checking in advance if it will be open during your visit. It is worth noting that there is an open-air restaurant opposite the hotel that has good views of the old city, so we did at least have one meal with a view.
“Very impressed”
The hotel met all our needs in terms of location and the standard of accomodation. The staff were always pleasant and helpful. The room was immaculately clean and well appointed. The location of the hotel is ideal for access to both the Medieval Cite and the bastide with an excellent view (from our room at least) of the fortified Cite. Would highly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Carcassonne.
“Rude and Unaccomidating, Stay Somewhere Else, Not Worth The Money You Save”
-Staff -rude, at the very least express disdain for guests that do not speak French. Observed other guests treated in this manner as well as experiencing firsthand. Even simply asking about local places to eat stirs a strangely bad reaction from reception staff. Maybe because no one wants to eat in their bad restaurant . -Bad restaurant! Food is expensive but low quality. Must be cost control. Porch-grill chefs are teenagers and despite the view, tacky experience. -No check-in before 3:00 PM, no exceptions! -no NON-smoking rooms, mine smelled. dated, small, dirty. -toothpaste/brush? NO. Bottled water? 15Euro. -Free parking in exposed lot outside of the hotel. Hotel staff will not inform you of this, as they charge $11 Euro per night to use their underground parking. -used the laundry service ($77EU), foolishly picked up without checking on the day I checked out. Missing (2) pieces of clothing (jacket and shirt). Staff was extremely rude and unaccommodating in returning my property. Now, three weeks after my return, staff has not found my shirt, not offered compensation, not APOLOGIZED. Cannot contact MG. They have yelled into the phone, not answered e-mails, and been generally dismissive with relation to ALL inquiries. This attitude pretty much sums up my experience. If you want to be treated like second class garbage stay at the Hotel Des Trois Couronness If not, I suggest that you stay at one of the MANY other hotels available. This place could RUIN your vacation.
“Great Location - Disappointment on Facilities”
Great location. Good room and view. However .... [1] Advertised swimming pool closed for major renovation, apparently for some months. [2] Advertised terrace restaurant closed [3] Advertised panoramic view restaurant not available for one of two night stay because hotel had booked two coach groups in and locked restuarant to these two groups only. These were primary reasons for choosing this location. Check carefully before you book.
“very pleasant location”
The hotel room was spacious and clean. It would be useful to have tea making facilities. The room was on the ground floor and beside the road. It was very noisy when people were walking along and shouting and laughing. The staff said it had double glazing, but this did not seem to be the case. Other rooms would be quieter. The staff were very friendly and helpful
“Superb views”
Food and location excellent. Pool scruffy. Room and general decor OK, French stuff is a little poor on finish generally, but it was clean and quite comfortable.
“Room with a view”
The hotel is conveniently situated for both the City and the new town. We chose one of the rooms with a City view, and it was worth every penny of the additional cost. This must be one of the finest views anywhere, and when you wake up in the morning you can see it from your bed! The hotel is quite basic, but the rooms were clean and comfortable, if rather small. There is a restaurant, but no bar or lounge. Ninian
“Fantastic location”
This hotel was great. It's right in the middle of the two cities. The staff were extremely helpful.
“Would go back to this hotel”
The hotel for a three star rating was very nice although room a bit on small side was nice and clean and had good views of the medievil city. The hotel is well appointed for reaching all the points of interest. The only thing we were not happy with was the food. Staff very friendly and helpful. We got the airport bus which dropped us off near to the hotel. The driver very friendly and helpful. All in all we had a good weekend and would certainly go back.
