“Plain Jane Hotel”
For a one night stay the hotel was satisfactory. The room was an average size and the manager was very accommodating. Her english was very good so we received good advice on where to go and what to see. The only drawback was a 3 floor hike (10 foot floors) to our room with luggage ( there were 6 rooms required for our group. The breakfast was hard boiled eggs, ham slice, pastries, juice and coffee from a machine. For the Expedia price the hotel was a acceptable as long as you are aware of the drawbacks.
“Charming small hotel.”
This hotel offers great value. It is well located in the centre of Carcassonne with all tourist attractions, cafes. restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. The ambience is welcoming and friendly as are the staff. The rooms are simply furnished but of reasonable size by French hotel standards, comfortable and quiet. In my opinion this hotel would be worthy of a 3* quality rating with 2* prices apart from the lack of air-conditioning. The lack of air-conditionng was noticeable in the heat of the summer but the overhead fans did provide some cooling comfort. Recommended.
“Nice modest hotel - would use again.”
Crazily early check-in required, and not good at answering telephone, but otherwise a nice modest hotel with the character of those one used to find in small French towns. My single room was clean, in good order, and had everything needed, with good bed, tiny desk; and with a good shower, basin and w.c. fitted neatly into a cupboard. Friendly check-in desk where you are given a code to get in later in the day or night. Well-situated for town centre and station. I did no try breakfast.
“Handy, reasonable and convenient.”
This hotel had small rooms that were clean and very adequate. It was very reasonable and the staff tried hard to please. The situation is close to transport, laundry facilities and restaurants, internet cafe etc.
“Basic but fine.”
The hotel, while basic, is in a good location, well within walking distance to see the sights of the Old City as well as being a short distance from the train station. The desk clerk, Mme. Godart, was most helpful and informative. The room was small but clean and quiet, with the only complaint really being the lack of an elevator.
“Delightful budget hotel with character - strongly recommend”
A lovely guesthouse a short walk from the old city. Exceptional value for money, very comfortable and lots of character - you actually feel like you're in France. I would love to return and would strongly recommend it to others.
“Quite satisfied”
Followed their instructions for arriving late with no problems. Room was clean and tidy. Breakfast was good. Easy walking to old city and rail station from hotel. Shutters on winows effectively kept out traffic noise and light.
“Adequate but could do better”
The staff are wonderful people, friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is fine too, walking distance from the train station and easy to walk to everything in the old and new cities too. The bed was not comfortable, and I found the place somewhat noisy too, even after closing both doors leading to the bedroom. Shower had good water but it was a bit cramped. Breakfast was good but not worth what they charged. I might go back there if I was on my own, but if I were traveling with my family I'd probably look elsewhere.
