“Good value in Cape Town”

We stayed 3 nights in this nice B&B type hotel in the Bantry Bay area of Cape Town, and overall were very satisfied. We had a nice balcony room with a view of the neighboring rooftops and the ocean in the distance. Unfortunately, the "queen" bed was actually two single beds pushed together, but otherwise the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great. WiFi internet was available, but not free. The hotel staff was helpful in arranging a rental car and suggesting day trips. The hop-on, hop-off bus stop was located within a couple of blocks, as well as a nice selection of shops and restaurants. The area was quiet and safe.

Area recommendations

The Villa Sunshine is convenient to Bantry Bay shops and restaurants, as well as other nearby areas, such as Houts Bay, the V&A Waterfront, Table Mountain and others. We felt right at home in this neighborhood.

Getting around

We found it quite convenient and economical to rent a small car, which hotel staff kindly arranged for us on the day of our arrival (Value Car Hire). From Villa Sunshine, we easily drove to Cape Point, V&A Waterfront, Table Mountain, the wine route and around Cape Town. The vehicle was delivered to the hotel and dropped off at the airport (right at the departure area) with no hassles whatsoever.

“Excellent location and price”

We would recommend this guest house to anyone visiting Capetown. It's walking distance to great cafes and restaurants and the ocean. Very friendly and comfortable!

“Nice stay at Villa Sunshine”

If at all anything, I was the odd man out. I was on business and stayed here for three days. The other guests were on holiday. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Villa Sunshine. The guesthouse and the rooms were clean, well maintained. The staff - Jennifer and Ulanda - were wonderful hosts, and never tired of helping out. Committed bunch. The restaurants and shops at Regent Rd were a short walk away, and the Beach Rd itself was about a five minute walk. I would love to go back and spend more time at the Villa Sunshine.

“Great breakfast”

This was a good find on the internet. I think I was a little mislead with 'ocean views'...one of our rooms was at the back and unable to change it. ...that was disappointing. Great location and a short walk to good food stores - would have liked to have been told that when we arrived...getting taxis places you miss them. Staff organised a taxi at the airport - very helpful and easy. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast as great. Yes -I will return!!

Camps bay is a lovely location-but slightly further out from the main city centre-lovely beach but be prepared for strong winds!

“Capetown stole my heart!”

It was the perfect place to stay...you'd enjoy the guesthouse...my only problem was that for the 3 days i was there the internet was down....

“Great location, helpful friendly staff”

We stayed in one of the studio apartments in Plant Africa, which was close to Seapoint shops / restaurants and only a couple of minutes walk to the sea front. It had all the comforts of home and a small patio area for al fresco eating/private sunbathing. The staff organised trips, got us a great deal on the car hire and because we had a late flight even arranged for us to keep the room until we left. Nothing was too much trouble! We will definately stay here again!

Traveller's tip

Do the Open Top Bus Tours, they are a cheap but informative way of getting around Capetown and seeing the sights. Staff are really friendly and helpful too. Visit Spiers and meet the cheetahs, great location but if you want to see everything, make sure you have the whole day. If resources allow, do an overnight stop at Aquila Game reserve, beautiful setting, great food /accomodation and the opportunity to see wildlife in their natural environment, but safe from hunters/poachers. Canal Walk is a great place to shop til you drop and there is even a theme park next door for the kids.
