“Good Value for your money”

Just a short walk away from V & A Waterfront, this hotel is the place. A short walk during daylight hours and a cheap cab ride back in the evening. Hotel was clean, good restaurant and the front desk staff could not have been nicer. I would recommend this to anyone looking for something not in the hustle and bustle of the Waterfront, yet close enough to go back and forth.

Area recommendations

Diving with the Great White Sharks was awesome. Would also recommend a wine tour....take the full day one.

“Good place to stay”

This is a hotel in a good place, with excellent service and good view. The breakfast was good, parking only $5 day. Staff was attentive and polite. We will definitely stay there again.

“Cape Town Capers . . .”

Great experience. Hotel desk rep, Marvin, was especially helpful willing to go the extra mile to make our stay wonderful. Contemporary rooms in an older building. Very clean facility with a beautiful outdoor lap pool. Convenient location with access to most important sites by foot including the Congress centre. Some issues with the internet service in the rooms but WIFI worked fine in the lounge. Certainly would return to this hotel. Great deals through Expedia.ca

“Very nice hotel, excellent location.”

We really enjoyed our stay at the Protea Victoria Junction. It is a lovely hotel in a great neighborhood. There are some excellent restaurants in the area and the V&A Waterfront is within walking distance or a short taxi ride away. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the hotel is quite well maintained. Would definitely stay there again!

Area recommendations

Definitely stay near the Waterfront. It is the area of the city where most tourists tend to go and there are abundant restaurants and shopping venues.

“Service very friendly, but inefficient”

Individually every single member of staff was really nice, but at the end of the day friendliness doesn't substitute for getting things right. A recurrent problem seemed to be that one shift did not communicate with another. Taxis you thought were booked didn't turn up and nobody at the desk knew anything about it; the cleaning service barged in once when we were sleeping and then pretended that the 'clean room now' sign was on; and, most annoyingly, the magnetic room keys kept having to be reset. You'd come in, go to your room, find the door wouldn't open and then have to go back down to reception. That happened to us 3 days in a row, another guy at the desk said he was up to 4. Basically, the reception desk was always busy attending to customers' problems, right from the moment we arrived.

De Waterkant is lovely and has several really good restaurants.

“Very friendly and attentive front desk staff - made you feel welcomed”

As I went in Winter season, I was greated with a glass of sherry at check-in. Was given a very nice overview of hotel, and local restaurants. Staff member was friendly, had good sense of humor and was attentive. As I came in and out during the week, he always said hello as well did the other members of the staff.

While there was always a taxi service close by, be prepared for fares to change and be comfortable in negotiating a fare before going anywhere. Some taxis have meters, others do not.

“Great Hotel”

Good bed and bedding. Great shower. Would have preferred a room higher up as it is on a busy street and there was a lot of traffic noise. Could not get a wi-fi signal in my room. Also you have to pay for internet access.

Cheap cafe next door to hotel has free internet access with breakfast. Great deal.
