“good hotel outside CapeTown”
A good hotel with some good features. However meal times could be chaotic - but added to the charm. Cheaper than staying in Cape Town centre but still good for getting around.
“Value for Money”
Good Hotel, Location, Value & Breakfast!!
“Handy location for sightseeing”
We stayed here for a week and found it ideal for our needs. It is out of the town centre, but only 10 mins drive down Beach Road to the V&A Waterfront cheap car parks and the town. There are also shuttle buses or taxis if you don't have a car. Bantry Bay is well placed for The Cape, Table Mountain, Camps Bay and other attractions. The Hotel was comfortable, service excellent and the breakfast buffet was mind-blowing.
“Attractive holiday hotel”
I stayed in two different rooms at this hotel: a sea-facing suite and a standard room. Both were very comfortable. Even the standard room had a sofa and small desk and a kitchenette with fridge, microwave and plates. The suite had a large sitting room and a stunning view over the pool area and out to the ocean. The pool is large and there are plenty of sunbeds. There is a comfortable indoor bar/lounge and service out to the pool area. There are outdoor tables and chairs where you can have breakfast or a drink in the evening. The hotel seems to be predominantly a holiday hotel but it was not over-run by huge tour groups or zillions of kids when I was there. The place has a nice relaxed feel which I found pleasant even though I had work to do. The hotel has a light and airy reception area and the whole hotel feels spacious. The hotel restaurant is fine - huge breakfast buffets and dinners either a la carte or buffet. it's not for foodies, who will find better places to dine out in Cape Town, but is absolutely fine if you just want a quiet evening in the hotel. I really liked the hotel and at the prices I paid through Expedia it was great value by Cape Town standards. Beware of the charges for internet use - R100 per hour is exorbitant. The internet cafes nearby charge around R15 per hour. This is really the only criticism I would make of the hotel and in my view it makes the hotel less convenient for people on business. Despite that, I would definitely stay here again.
“Extremely disappointed - definitely not 4*”
To be avoided if you are expecting a 4* facility. Hotel shabby (only good point is clean crisp bedlinen. Pool area swarming with seagulls, pigeons and covered in bird droppings. Bathroom could have been taken from a Travelodge and if you are bigger than a size 14, you won't get through the shower door without a struggle. Absolutely nothing 4* about this hotel at all.
“good”
standard sea view room was nice but had not been vacuumed and there was hair all over the place. the rest was good.
“too crowded...”
1: mixe-up at the reception, somebody in my room smooking in my non-smoking room... 2: family and kids are everywhere... running around the pool... 3: don't expect flat screen tv or nice modern furniture... It's a old fashion hotel. The location is good and the parking is cheap.
“Good Hotel and Location - could use upgrades”
The hotel is in a good location and the price was right. The hotel could use and overhall but is in fair condition. One thing they could not get quite right was the code key which was a particular nuisance because there are not phones in the elevator lobby or hallways. They did go through great pains to have the issue resolved in a timely manor. Overall, for the money is was a good hotel. P.S. Make sure to get the buffet breakfast.
“Location great but definitely not a four star!”
Great location in Sea Point; the President used to be THE hotel to stay at way back when. Used by the airlines and tour groups, it is definitely NOT a four star hotel, but a good three star. However, the staff were most accomodating and friendly. You get what you pay for!
“Cliff side experience”
The Hotel President sits on the cliff side above the sea at Bantry Bay one of the sea side suburbs south of Cape Town. The hotel roms have views over the garden and pool. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Food service is excellent with good choices and reasonable prices for Cape Town.
