“Very Impressed would definitley saty again!”
An excellent hotel with friendly helpful staff. Located conveniently for shopping, dinning out not that you need to and visting attractions like Table mountain.
“November 2011 stay”
Great location, excellent size rooms with good kitchen facilities. Nice pool area. Only negative was Reception not booking a restaurant for us and basically not telling us. Suggest you make your own reservations
“Great Hotel - more like an apartment”
Great location and staff. Mikhail was extremely helpful with recommendations for restaurants and set us up with a driver that was the fraction of the cost of tour companies. Our room was more like an apartment than a hotel. Two bedrooms with full kitchen and living room, washer/dryer in our unit. Comfortable beds. Would definitely stay there again!
“Great Self Contained Facilities But Otherwise Average”
This is the second time I have stayed at Mandela Rhodes Hotel. The rooms were built to be appartments, not hotel rooms, so they are fully self-contained with great kitchen and laundry facilities, as well as spacious lounge rooms and dinning areas. Unfortunately there are lots of little problems with the staff who don't seem properly trained or supervised. They forgot our wake up call and didn't order us a taxi on a very critical day and when we complained they denied making a mistake. The rooms also have lots of small problems, like tap handles that fall off and cupboard hinges that are damaged. The fridge had a very bad rattle but I managed to fix that myself. Their cable TV service was missing discovery channel because they had not paid the subscription. I would still consider staying here again despite the problems, just because it is so convenient having cooking and laundry facilities. The rooms are kept clean and the location is excellent, including a free shuttle service to the water front.
“Great home away from home”
Staying at the Mandela Rhodes gave us a perfect home base for exploring Cape Town. We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite with a full (and well equipped) kitchen, living room with 2 large, comfortable sofas, dining area, and a washer and dryer. The bathrooms were equipped with hair dryers, as well as a 120 volt outlet. The master bathroom had a generously sized bathtub in addition to a separate shower. (The second bathroom had just a shower.) Our room had a spectacular view of Table Mountain. There were many good restaurants within walking distance, and the hotel is only 1 block away from Long Street (location of many clubs), which made our young adult children happy. The hotel has an underground garage, which was convenient for parking our rental car. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They even arranged a complimentary room for us to freshen up before our 11pm flight home (check out time that day was 11am). The main restaurant (and only bar) was closed for renovation during our stay, which was disappointing, but there were numerous nearby options. We highly recommend this hotel.
“Great hotel, unbeatable location”
Hotel is located across the street from City Sightseeing Red line and 2 blocks from Blue line. Across the street from Company Gardens and many other tourist locations. My studio apartment was beautiful, fully equipped and even with full size washer/dryer. Very modern and upscale! Buffet breakfast and roof top pool were great. I will definitely stay here again next time I am in Capetown.
“very impressed would be first choice if we went back to cape town”
Would recommend this place as a first choice hotel if staying in cape town staff were a great help especially charlenne from zimbabwe at the front desk Good rooms great bathrooms and breakfast was very nice loved the orange juice.
“Beautiful hotel, huge apartments”
We had a two-bedroom, two-bath apartment with a complete functioning kitchen (not that we cooked). My bedroom had a view of Table Mountain. A lovely, full breakfast was included in the price of the room, served in the poolside restaurant. We had dinner one night in Doppio Zero, the Italian restaurant, and it was very good. Overall, a beautiful place with great service. One small thing - the shower drain in my daughter's bathroom was clogged, causing some flooding, and even though we reported this right away to the front desk, it never was fixed. But aside from that one oversight, everything was great, including the location.
“Great Hotel - but more like apartments”
This is less like a hotel and more like serviced apartments. However for the price paid and the location and for what you get for your money it can be thoroughly recommended. The apartment had views over table mountain, two bathrooms, two bedrooms and a kitchen a balcony and a living area. It was modern and clean and the furnishings were more functional rather then luxurious. The ambience of the hotel is a bit clinical, a bit of a cross between a shopping centre / airport and block of flats. If you are looking for luxury and indulgence this may not suit, but for what we paid I have no complaints.
“Great Hotel”
Great apartment/hotel we had lots of space in 2 bed apartment and a lovely breakfast every morning! The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. There is a travel centre by the reception who organised everything for us they were great. The italian restaurant downstairs served amazing food and was very reasonable. Only small problem was the location was slightly away from the main tourist hub of the V&A Waterfront, but it would be a more pricey area to be in. However the hotel does run a free shuttle twice a day. I would stay here again
