“Great room, service lacking”

This is an apartment hotel so rooms are huge with separate kitchen and sitting area. Probably good for a long stay when you need the extra space. Downside is the location, neither central, waterfront nor quiet. Close to V&A but not walk able after dark. Hotel does offer free limo service within 5 kilometers.

Area recommendations

Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is one of the great gardens in the world, many varied areas, great tearoom.

Dining

Piegelle and The Codfather both have superb seafood.

“Exceeded Expectations”

My wife and I stayed at Cape Royale only one night but we wish we had a week there. Beautifully decorated, elegant luxury. The staff was friendly and the amenities in the room were extensive including en suite laundry and a complete kitchen. The concierge (Ryan) and driving staff went out of there way to give us a comfortable short stay.

“A Jewel on the Atalntic Seaboard”

Certainly one of the best hotels in the world with exceptionally friendly and efficient staff, great rooms, convenient parking......need one say more!

Area recommendations

The whole Atlantic Seaboard of Cape Town is amazing with Tabel Mountain as a backdrop and the sea and bay before you there is a myriad of eaeries and great restaurants so you don't need to go far from the Cape Royale when you feel like a short break from busy meetings.

Getting around

As anywhere in South Africa, public transport is not great and a rental car is recommended, however, Cape Town built and is phasing in a Bus Rapid Transit system which will be great for getting around the main tourist areas and from the Atlantic Seaboad and World Cup Stadium all the way to Blouberg Strand with its magnificent views of Table Mountain from accross the bay.

“Stunning hotel with excellent staff and added value”

This hotel is simply glorious. Beautiful and luxurious. Tastefully appointed. It is also conveniently located with a short walk or complimentary shuttle to the waterfront. But what was most outstanding was the helpfulness of staff. Although we arrived at midnight, Milusi managed to arrange for a tour the next morning. The tour itself was incredible with a wonderful guide named Innocent. The next day we asked for a tour enroute to the airport and had another wonderful driver who was extremely knowledgeable. For us, the hotel staff made the trip. The appliances, toiletries, all the little "extras'" were there. Simply delightful. I highly recommend it for business or pleasure.

Table Mountain, of course, the tour of the penninsula is also marvelous. Hours to be spent browsing shops near the waterfront.

“Not impressed at all”

My husband check-in a day before me. Upon his arrival they didn't find our pre-paid reservation from their systems. They were able to provide him with a room but it wasn't as luxurious as the one we paid for. It has been 2 weeks, and we are still fighting for the credit. My husband organized a hotel car to pick me up from the airport but it never arrived. Wireless connections in the rooms were basically non-existent. Spa had been down sized. The gym was very moderate. We also have a reason to believe that employees stole $1500 from our room. Despite of several complaints and discussions with the hotel management they didn't offer us anything. No credit, no voucher for dinner, nothing.

“A Royale Cape Visit”

A beautiful setting on Main Rd where all the restaurants are close by, just opposite the Green Point stadium. A big plus is the free parking inside the hotel and big kitchen fitted with a washer/drier and other Siemens appliances.

When to go

Avoid winter because it rains and days are short. Summer has beautiful sunny days with Table Mountain looking down on you!

“Elegant and comfortable”

A fantastic property and staff. Very elegant and comfortable. The room was roomly an comfortable. Much more than we expected. Hotel offered complimentary transportation to nearby restaurants, etc in a beautiful Jaguar.

“Excellent hotel - highly recommended”

I was surprised to find the hotel was relatively new (around 3 years) seeing that the structure was like old world beauty. Our check-in was very personalized - private desks for individual check-in and not long counters like in most hotels. Service was very efficient. We went to the roof deck restaurant and asked the waiter what time they would close and he said as long as we were there it would be open! Man, did I feel Special! The hotel rooms very beautifully constructed with a lot of space and full amenities. Our 2 bedroom suite had its own kitchen and dining set with full facilities (washer, oven, even a clothes washer). The night we were there one of the television sets in one of the rooms had a problem with the signal so it was turning on and off and we could not watch on that television. We called for service, the butler came to our room and they needed to do some adjustments but it was a bit late at night so we decided not to push thru with it. In return, the butler sent us a bottle of wine for our incovenience even though there were 2 other TV sets we can use in suite. I've been to many hotels and I wish I could say that this kind of attention and service when you are incovenienced is common place but its not so EXCELLENT marks to the staff and to the hotel. I will surely recommend this hotel to everyone going to Cape Town!

“Wonderful Stay!”

This Hotel was just perfect! good location, high quality service, everybody was friendly and waiting to help you . If I have to go there again I would stay there. The Vallet Parking service, the shuttle, the concierg service etc, etc ... EXCELLENT!

“Amazing”

I cannot speak highly enough about this hotel, from the kind staff (Ryan, Peter etc.) to the comfort and great location. The staff went out their way to make sure everything about the holiday went smoothly, from the free shuttle service which took you anywhere you wanted to go, to booking any tours/excursions/restaurants - which were all fantastic. The holiday was a surprise for my partner's birthday and the staff even left a lovely cake and bottle of wine in our room on arrival. Even making sure the helicopter ride and restaurant which they booked was kept a secret from him! The location of the hotel is great and no more than a 10 min walk to the V&A (or you can get the shuttle) and also has a great view of the new football stadium. The rooms are beautifully decorated, luxurious, modern and spacious and always cleaned to an outstanding standard. The hotel is in its entirety is just stunning. I would not hestiate to recommend this hotel to anyone, couples, families, eldery and cannot talk highly enough about it - especially the staff who made the holiday for us. I'm sure anyone who has had the pleasure to stay at the Cape Royale cannot fault it. I would definitely stay there again.
