You can’t beat this location in terms of being close to the city but not on a high street. We had the mountain and city view room and would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone visiting Cape Town. The balcony was perfect for some relaxed mornings or evenings and it felt like you were really on holiday without having to leave the apartment. Staff were also fantastic and friendly 10 day stay. Would definitely staff here again.

Highly recommended
A rare find in a great location, just minutes from long street albeit (steep) uphill. Extremely clean studio style apartment,great comfy bed and nice bathroom, would have loved to have stayed longer. Great view of the city. Was extremely fortunate, and appreciative, of an upgrade from the booked double room. Katrin is a great hostess.

Great room with stunning view and great location
The owner Katrin, was great and very welcoming. She organised my transfer from/to the airport and was very responsive to emails. She was very welcoming and super friendly and left some milk/coffee/muffins and fruit ready for breakfast the next day. The room itself was amazing. Being at the top of a hill, the view of the city and table mountain was spectacular. The room had all needed amenities including free wifi, TV, bathtub and shower, kitchenette, balcony etc. The bed was also very comfortable. The guest house is walking distance (around 10 mins) from Long street with all its shops and cafes. I would definitely go back there. Highly recommended.

Quite Heaven
Loved it. Katrin was very helpful and hands on, so are her staff, friendly too. Room was very clean, with daily housekeeping. Breakfast was efficient, I like the idea of upfront bfast -nice. Neighbourhood is festive yet quiet, but beautiful surroundings overall. Unfortunately I had poor wifi, which can be improved. Also, no provision of soap which was odd, but I always come prepared so I didn't die. And no satellite channels, maybe that will improve. And I would've liked more water. Also the bathroom light makes a terrible noise when switched on. Honestly, I'd visit again and again and again. It's gorgeous. I'd recommend this place for business and leisure purposes.

Excellent accommodation during Cape Town visit.
Our experience at Upperbloem was outstanding. We contacted Katrin before our arrival to see about coming in a day earlier, and she was happy to oblige, coordinate airport transfer services, etc. She had excellent recommendations during our stay and the room was very comfortable well-stocked. Laundry service was very convenient, efficient, and reasonably priced. As other commenters noted, Upperbloem is at the top of a very steep hill, so we used a taxi service when returning home each evening. The excellent views made walking up and down hills and taking taxis worth it! It was a great location in a historic neighborhood and we found it easy to get around by walking, taking taxis, and the Hop On Hop off bus. When we return to Cape Town, we'll gladly return to Upperbloem for another terrific experience.

Cute little place!
Absolutely incredible view, the manager lives on-site and has a very friendly large dog. It says no breakfast served, but she had some cereal, milk, juice, muffins, coffee and tea in the room so we wouldn't have to stress about breakfast the first morning. Very close to all the popular downtown spots. Good for any ages. Great little place. 10/10 would go back again.

Lovely view, big climb, comfy stay!
Very comfortable and friendly B & B with an incredible view, a delicious included breakfast and a very steep climb! Proprietor very helpful. Rooms all abut the main kitchen area, so can be a bit noisy. Beautiful balcony with views of mountain and water. WiFi in common areas. Pool and maid service.

The way it was advertised in the site is a hotel it is just a house with some rooms.There is no air conditioning surroundings are not healthy.Not a safe area.We got a room with a bed and a fan thats all.I better suggest this should be adverstised more like a guest house rather than a hotel

good could have been great.
they have a large guard dog that messes in the garden area. i requested that the dog mess be removed but this did not happen. The smell when cooking on the bbq was not nice. also this is a quiet guest-house so if you want to stay up past 11 talking / having a drink this is not the place to go. room was clean, breakfast was good and short walk to main streets.

Charming hotel in Malay district
Beautifully located, small (5 rooms) hotel in the Malay quarters of Cape Town. Prices very reasonable. Rooms clean and tastefully furnished. Breakfast self serve of good western standard (no full English breakfast but more than enough to make you happy). Friendly staff. Hotel is close to city centre and Long street, but the walk to the hotel from long street is very steep. Consider taking a taxi home (cost about R30) if you are not so fit. Area seemed safe (by South African standards) but consider to take a taxi home after sunset. Beautiful surroundings in the Malay quarters and a nice view from the hotel balcony. We are overall very pleased and can recommend this hotel which is guaranteed value for money.

Clean and trendy
A little apprehensive of the location on arrival, as the residential area was a little run down. The guest house however, is not. We booked a small double, and arrived to find that our accommodation contained a double bed; private safe; wardrobes; tv (though only 5 channels); hifi; kitchenette including kettle, caffetiere (& tea and coffee); fridge, hob, and sink; table and chairs; sofa; patio; and bathroom with large bathtub and walk-in shower. The room, with silver high-spec finishings, was spotless. The shared kitchen was stocked with bread, croissants, pastries, cheeses, preserves, fruit and drinks, to be consumed any time, and again, was very clean. Only a 5 minute walk to Long street, however we felt the need to take a taxi back at night at a cost of approx R30, for safety reasons, and the fact that the property is atop a very steep hill. Hospitality was great. Overall, impressed with the accommodation. Tip; during our stay, no taxi driver knew of the accommodation, so ensure that you have the full address (and maybe even a map to guide them there if need be).

Spitzenklasse!!!
Super Appartement mit Stadtblick. Umgebung relativ sicher für Kapstadt und sehr Zentral. Super Restaurants zu fuss erreichbar. Dank Uber auch sehr schnell von A nach B gekommen. Würde immer wieder kommen!!

Abhängig vom Zimmer: Traumaussicht auf die Stadt und den Tafelberg. Großzügiger, eigener Balkon und funktionale Küche. Sehr freundliche und unkomplizierte Leitung (Katrin) und tolles Serviceteam. Sehr empfehlenswerte Unterkunft!

Tolles Stadt-Guesthouse mit sehr netter Besitzerin
Wir waren für 3 Nächte bei Katrin. Wir wurden sehr herzlich und nett empfangen. Sie zeigte uns direkt unser Apartment / Stadtblick / Meerblick. Das Apartment ist sehr groß und sehr sauber. Wir fanden im Kühlschrank sogar alles nötige für das erste Frühstück. Zudem fragte Sie ob wir denn gerne ein Gläschen Wein trinken wollen, wir erhielten direkt eine ganze Flasche. Außerdem hat jedes Apartment sein eigenes Handy, welches wir mitnehmen konnten um vor Ort Restaurant Reservierungen vorzunehmen oder auch mal Katrin anzurufen wenn was unklar war. TOP Service, sehr nette und zuvorkommende Besitzerin. Vielen Dank für die tollen 3 Tage. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

Wundervolles Multiview Appartment
Es gibt verschiedene Appartments. wir hatten das Multiviewappartment mit einem phantastischen blick auf die Stadt und den Tafelberg. Die Veranda ist sehr groß. das zimmer ist sehr sauber und selbst das Bad, das klein aber sehr schön ist, hat einen hervorragenden blick auf den Tafelberg. Die Lage ist im bo Kaap viertel. Sehr zentrumsnah und doch etwas erhaben. Katrin, die Vermieterin ist sehr nett und erleichtert einem den Aufenthalt durch tolle Tipps und Unterstützung wie z.B. Boarding Pass Ausdrucken, local Handy, Restauranttipps. Alles zusammen eine sehr runde Sache.

Great location with increadible views
Great location, 10 minutes walking distance to the city center (Long Street with all the night life). Nice, spacious room, nice terrace with a pool and incredible city view. Katrin, the owner, is an incredibly nice and cooperative person, can help you arrange the transportation, rent a car and has lots of tips on where to eat out etc.

Freundschaftlicher Aufenthalt
Das Guesthouse liegt im Bo-Kaap-Viertel. Man muss quasi durch das Viertel fahren, um zum Guesthouse zu gelangen. Da das Guesthouse über dem Viertel liegt, hat man einen herrlichen Blick über die Stadt. Unser Zimmer war mit allem ausgestattet, was man sich für ein Selfcatering-Guesthouse wünscht. Die Besitzerin war sehr offen und hilfsbereit und sparte auch nicht mit Tipps und Anregungen. Wir selbst waren auf Empfehlung eines Freundes dort und können diese Unterkunft auch bedenkenlos weiterempfehlen. Trotz der relativ zentralen Lage ist es angenehm ruhig und man kann gut schlafen. Und sollte man Ausflüge machen wollen, dann fragt vorher per Email oder während des Aufenthalts nach... die uns "vermittelten" Ausflüge waren allesamt klasse! :-)

Hemkänsla, men ändå borta i fantastiska Kapstaden.
Gillar att bo på mindre hotel, där man är igenkänd. Bra rent rum med fantastisk utsikt över Taffelberget och Kapstaden. God frukost med färsk frukt. Kommer att återvända till Kapstaden och då blir det detta mycket prisvärda hotel igen.

schöne Lage
Das Upperbloem liegt auf eine Anhöhe mit Blick über Kapstadt von der Terrasse aus und auf der anderen Seite liegt einem der Tafelberg zu Füßen. Die Longstreet erreicht man in 5-10 Minuten zu Fuß, was tagsüber überhaupt keine Gefahr darstellt! Katrin ist eine super nette und angenehme Gastgeberin. Zum Frühstück gibt es alles was man braucht. Würde jederzeit wieder dort Urlaub machen.

Un alojhamiento cerca del centro y con buenas vist
El hotel está situado en pleno barrrio residencial, cerca del barrio malayo. Es preferible subir ( ¡vigila las cuestas!!!!) por las calles anteriores a Upperbloem, ya que las subidas son muy marcadas
