One issue after the other...

Posted 04-Dec-2014
Pros: The location, great "central" spot on the Atlantic Seaboard to get you quickly to the CBD, Camp's Bay, Lion's Head, etc.
Cons: The staff and some cosmetic updates.
Location: Lion's Head, Sea Point Promenade, Camp's Bay
I'll start off by saying that more or less the hotel was fine and had I booked what I actually received I don't think I would take such an issue. Booking on here it listed a "1 Bedroom Suite"....after spending 20 hours getting to CPT I was happy to check in and get to my room. Walk in and it was pretty much a studio with a kitchenette and a small waist high counter that divided the bed and the living area, plus the bathroom. I sat on the bed and looked over my papers to confirm I had booked a 1BR...I went back down and said I think I got the wrong room, I booked a 1BR...."no sir room XYZ is a 1BR". But there is no separate room for the bed..."yes that's a 1BR". I wasn't going to fight I went back upstairs. In a nutshell: The walls and ceilings are very thin, the interior design of the rooms is updated but the general areas are a bit 1990s. The staff was never rude but many questions from front desk were answered by pointing without even looking up from paperwork. I had one meal at the restaurant which was pretty good. When I went to check out I asked for the parking to be taken off my room since it was a "Free Parking, Free Breakfast" listing...I was told that free parking was available on the street and in the surrounding area. Had I more energy I would have pushed back...but at the end of the day it wasn't that much rand.

SUPERB LOCATION, SERVICE AND COMFORT

Posted 25-Mar-2013 on Hotels.com
It has been many years since I last stayed at this hotel and she is showing her age a little, but there is very little to find fault with. The cleanliness and comfort of the suite was perfect, the service in the restaurant and bars was excellent and the breakfast was the best I have seen anywhere in the world. My only criticism is that the restaurant is closed to residents when there is a function on, and this was not expected on our first night. Consequently we had to walk to a nearby restaurant for dinner which was not at all convenient or good, especially when we were very tired from a long flight.

Nettes Hotel in Küstenlage

Posted 14-Feb-2013

The Best of the Best!

Posted 13-Aug-2012
Pros: The excellent staff.
Cons: The elevators were not working properly. Thank God I was only on the fourth floor.
Location: The location was perfect for Cape Town activities..and the view.
Outstanding! ALL of the hotel staff were very helpful and very nice to talk to. There were happy greetings all day long. The view the hotel rooms have of the Atlantic Ocean in Cape Town is breathtaking. I had two rooms in the time I stayed and the balcony was the place to be. The tour desk offered the best tours for everyday of the week. And let me tell you about the hotel shuttle...excellent and extremely accommodating. The three driver I had were great for tips and suggestions for places to go. I have been all around the world and I have to admit, this is the first hotel I have ever written a review for. The best of the best! The Peninsula Hotel is the only hotel I would ever stay at in Cape Town or anywhere else there is a Peninsula Hotel.

Hotel nice, service somewhat lacking

Posted 11-Sep-2011
We booked a super luxury 2 bedroom suite, which had a large master bedroom with jacuzzi in the large bathroom, a large living area with full kitchen, 2 balconies overlooking the ocean, and a small second bedroom with its own bath. On booking we were told (both verbally and by email) that the second room had two double beds but this was not true. It was quite small and had two twin beds. Services were not as good as the rooms. The concierges were extremely weak; the best of them was at a mediocre level. I had to tell one that she could get the address I needed if you looked it up on the computer sitting next to her and then help her use google on the computer. The front desk was also very weak. They failed to do a wake-up call one morning and whenever I asked to schedule the shuttle the majority of the front desk personnel told me it was not available. I finally talked to the front desk manager (and thereafter only to him) and he had no problem arranging any shuttle trips needed. Once on the van all the drivers were great and very helpful. The rooms were very clean and some nights (not all) beds were turned down and towels were changed. Finally, I note to you that they have a casual Friday program--be forewarned, some employees look like hoodlums. There are no free internet connections, not even on the public computer in the lobby. You must buy vouchers (again the front desk had problems figuring out how to do this), and they are relatively expensive.

The hotel has high quality staff to support customers about any need regarding services in the city.
