“Not all rooms up to 4/5 star standard”
Check in was quick and efficient.
Baggage delivery to room took very long and my suitcase was only delivered after prompting the conciege a few times.
Our group which consisted of single rooms only, all had different sized rooms - some extremely small and after some room changes, we all found suitable rooms.
The beds were amazingly plush and I slept well in the bed.
My shower head had to be held by hand as there was no shower hook to hang the shower from - this was very inconvenient as I had to constantly put the shower head into the bath in order to wash myself. Being mid winter the shower was not nice at all.
My toilet leaked and after flushing I had to go back and tilt the lever a few times to ensure that water did not keep running.
One room offered had the heaitng on full power when we opened the door and smelt as if somebody had been smoking in the room.
My room was next to a storeroom and I was awoken every morning by noisey staff who threw cases of water and stock around the storeroom. The doors (and those of neighbouring rooms) slammed loudly every time they were closed.
After last rounds were called in the hotel bar, the lights were flickered indicating the bar would close.
The setting and location of the hotel is fantastic and very convenient as our exhibition was being held in the Festival Palace across the road.
It is also centraly situated to all the shopping streets, restaurants and old town.
Identify shortcomings early and your stay should be OK.
Area recommendations
The entire area around the hotel is great for strolling around and shopping/browsing etc.
The old town is also only a block or two away.
A short walk up to the old castle is well worth a visit offering great views. There are also many tiny wine bars and cafes in this are.
The hotel is very well located for those who enjoy a jog along the beachfront.
A one hour (one way) train ride to Monaco Monte Carlo is very well worth it. The train ride takes you along the cliff edges and through lovely little villages.
Once in Monaco and if your time is limited, a 10 minute walk into the centre will get you to the Hop on Hop off tours, which take an hour if you stay on the bus the entire journey. Don't take luggage, as there are no lock up facilities at the train station.
Getting there
If you fly into Nice, you can either take public transport which takes a few hours to get to Cannes including waiting times and finally getting directly to your address. You can also take a cab which should cost anywhere between Euro60 and Euro95. Be sure to clarify this with the driver and make sure they keep the clock on in the cab in order to monitor this. A cab is surely the quickest and most convenient way of getting to Cannes and can save you hours.
