“Sweet little oasis”

The hotel featured friendly, welcoming staff who all spoke excellent English; a charming decor; all in a good, quiet area of Juan-les-Pins. I was put on the second floor, which afforded me an appreciable view of the front of the property and the street leading up to the main road. With no elevator and heavy bags, getting into the room was a bit of a chore, but it didn't matter too much. Early May provided cool nights and warm days, but at night I found myself sleeping with the window wide open and using little bedding as the central heating was still roaring away. The bathroom was interesting, with a shower stall lacking a curtain or door meaning water going everywhere; a shower head that one needed to hold or prop up in a convoluted angle via a bracket and metal bar in order to use like a normal shower; and a toilet that filled to the brim when flushed before suddenly evacuating, right before you fear the room would be flooded with the contents of the pan. A little odd, but easily worked out. For a little company there is a TV set, which is still 4:3 ratio, despite European TV broadcasting being in 16:9. There was a problem with the WiFi system during my stay, so I had to go to the ground floor to get reception, but once got it was fine, and included in the price of the room. The in-house food was compartively expensive, so I declined most offerings, preferring to shop in town or eat out elsewhere. 5 euros for a glass of orange juice is a bit much. Overall, very happy.

Area recommendations
I stayed in Juan-les-Pins during the Cannes Film Festival, as it's quieter, cheaper, and away from the raucous energy of the larger city. I didn't spend a large amount of time in Juan-les-Pins, but it's a gentle half hour stroll from Antibes, which is a beautiful town to visit, and only ten minutes by train from Cannes. The variety and quality of places to eat in Juan-les-Pins had me staying there for dinner - it's easy to find great food around the whole area. Antibes, which is a short stroll away or a bus ride or train ride is well worth a visit - it's beautiful and varied, with the Picasso Museum, the Carre Fort, medieval streets and Roman architecture to be found. The markets are a dream and the variety of restaurants and cafes is unreal.
Getting around
Juan-les-Pins is small enough to walk everywhere. The railway station is a short stroll, as is the bus to Cannes or Antibes.
Nightlife
I was there when the hotel was hosting a Jazz night - which was very cool. Juan-les-Pins in general has a large number of great eateries, from the centre of town down to the foreshore. You're spoilt for choice.
Outdoors or beach
The beaches of Juan-les-Pins are covered by marquees owned by restaurants and hotels, which for a Sydney-sider (where beaches are publicly owned and free to be enjoyed by all) is a bit of a disappointment. The hotel itself has a lovely little pool for splashing about in on those hot days.

Posizione comoda rispetto a Juan Le Pins.

When to go
Outdoors or beach
