“Good base for exploring the Cote d'Azur if you do not need luxury or facilities”
St Charles is well placed in the centre of town and a short walk to the wonderful sandy beaches. It's a small 12 bed hotel in a side street with no parking and meter parking in the surrounding streets. If you time it right, there are free, unlimited spaces on the sea front and around the park. The best bedooms are around the courtyard pool at the back of the hotel on the ground floor. Avoid room one as this is adjacent to a bakery that can be noisy at silly times in the morning. The rooms are basic and clean. There are no wardrobes or cupboards but simple rails to hang your clothes. Breakfast is available at additional cost although the rooms have fridges so you can do your own thing. There are no kettles in the rooms and personal 'water heaters are banned'!. The lovely courtyard and small pool make up for a very basic hotel - bring your own wine and snacks for a super way to wind down from the day's exploring.
“Worst Ever”
This hotel is the worst ever we have stayed in. When we arrived in the room there were no wardrooms but only portable hangers. There were two 'pillows' which were totally inadequate which forced us to ask for another two pillows. The pool was a joke as it was so small it resembled a bath!!(don't let the photo on the internet kid you). Too round the holiday off we lost our key on the last night and when we arrived back at the hotel at twelve the whole place was closed. They had a sign up to ring a bell for service or ring a mobile number if there was no response. All we can say is that there was no response from neither and it ended up that my wife and I had to sleep in the corridor all night!! And then to really put a tin hat on it the next morning a staff member came up to advise that there were complaints about the noise!! Our advice is to stay well clear of this hotel.
“Basic accommodation, but good location”
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in August 2009. We picked this hotel based on the reasonable price and good reviews from previous visitors. Unfortunately our expectations were a bit too high! The hotel looks tired and run down from the outside, and we had one of the Standard Rooms, which turned out to be a lot more basic than we expected. Very small and uncomfortable bathroom, two twin beds pushed together, no table in the room, very very cheap storage units which was shaky and was falling apart. Our bathroom's shower outlet was blocked, which made for an uncomfortable first shower experience, but to the staff's credit, they fixed it as soon as we complained. The floor of the room was not cleaned properly and felt dirty and sandy from the start. Toilet paper wasn't refilled so we had to ask for it. Small things like that just added up to cause a bit of irritation. So, a tip would be to book into one of the Superior Rooms if you want to stay at this hotel! On the positive side - the hotel is at a brilliant location. Very close to local shops and restaurants, and the train station is also just a few minutes away if you would like to hop on a train to explore the nearby towns. The small pool area is also pleasant if you want to sit outside and have a drink after a long day of sunbathing.
“Great little find in Antibes”
I stayed for two nights in this great little hotel. Staff were very welcoming and accomodated my bicycle with no fuss at all. It's central location is great for all the bars, restaurants and beaches. The small private pool is a great evening spot to relax round and meet other travelers, if you haven't already met them in the bar. Given the choice of other hotels in the region, this is definitely one I'd go back to.
Consigliato a giovani.
