This was our second stay at the Alila Manggis. This is a lovely hotel, beautiful grounds with a great outlook. Nice pool, terrific restaraunt, rooms are very nice, well equiped, all with ocean views (get a room on the second floor). The staff are wonderful, friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. My partner was sick during our stay and they bent over backwards to be helpful. We will definitely be back.

As you arrive at the Watergarden Hotel in Candidasa, it is quite deceiving as the front reception is simple, and small. But what a wonderful treat - as we were lead to our rooms, up a very clean and tidy path through lush gardens, we were very pleased to see our room. Set in a very lush tropical setting, the room was lovely, nice and cool, and we had the joy of spending quite a lot of time relaxing on our verandah feeding out koi. It felt like that we were away from the world, so peaceful.
Staff were wonderful, especially the Orchid Day Spa, where I went every day for a massage and to be pampered and spoilt. Great place to unwind. The Manager there is lovely, and we could not find fault with anyone there, and the prices were excellent.
Staff were always happy and greeted you with a smile, and the meals in the restaurant were great, plenty of variety and staff were very happy to order off the menu as well. They were able to help us with booking a driver to see the sights of East Bali as well as book in a fishing trip in a traditional Balinese boat.
We visited in November in the low season, and had absolutely perfect weather the entire time. Now looking at when we can return.
The poolside bar was nice and the staff there and in the restaurant were friendly and pleasant. We did have some trouble keeping our room cool and some of the lights were not working, but it was a nice, clean room and the views were amazing.
This place is situated in such an amazing view. Right by the ocean. We stayed in a villa with as a group of 6. We had amazing massages. This is a quiet resort and we may have been a little loud, but they were still very welcoming.
I stayed at Padang Bai for one night in May 2015 with my friends as a short weekend break from our volunteering project in Ubud. Given how inexpensive the cost to stay was I really should not be entitled to any complaints because it was excellent value for money. The room was spacious with two beds, a clean toilet (with a slightly malfunctioning toilet) and a balcony looking over the lush greenery in Bali and could spot the sea from the corner.
Staff were very friendly and provided welcome drinks on arrival, as well as the wifi code and coupons for free use of beach towel. Unfortunately for us, the air con in the room would not work, which didn't help at night when the air was stifling but apart from that there were no issues. I'm sure if we bothered to tell the hotel staff about this rather than attempt to make it work ourselves there may have been an improvement!
There was a large range of food available for breakfast from eggs, toast, pancakes, cereal, fresh fruit and fresh juices and lots of pastries. Since we had heard much about their pizza we opted to stay in for dinner and did not regret it since the pizza was very appetising.
I am giving this hotel a 4 star rating overall but if the rating was based on value for money alone it would definitely be 5 stars. I had an excellent time here with my friends and I recommend it to anyone staying for a short while at Padang Bai.

A haven of quiet relaxation, the fishing village of Candi Dasa on Amuk Bay is the antitheses of frenetic Kuta to the southwest. With a rocky coastline, most swimming is confined to resort pools, although some of Bali’s best diving and snorkelling is found in this area. Candi Dasa is also a great base from which to explore the historical and cultural sights of the east, including the pre-Hindu village of Tenganan, the sacred baths of Tirtagangga, and Bali's mother temple, Pura Besakih.
