Food was bad, infinity pool & ocean was amazing!

Posted 28-May-2015
Pros: The hotel staff was friendly and warm, I loved them! The infinity pool and the ocean view was amazing!
Cons: The food needs great improvement!
Location: We went to Xel-Ha for one day. It was really fun, got to swim in the water (ocean? lake?) with the little fishes.
The hospitality was awesome. The hotel staff was friendly and warm, I loved them! The room was kind of small compared to the one I'd previously stayed in Riveria Maya. The infinity pool and the ocean view was amazing, but I felt like the pool was kind of small overall. The food was horrible, either too sweet, too salty, too sour or no taste. The one thing I loved was pineapples! massive pineapples! And the grilled salmon from Azur was good. Nevertheless, I had an amazing time with my friends, laughing, talking (complaining about the hotel) and it has been an adventure to explore LIVE AQUA.

the staff makes the place

Posted 28-May-2015
Pros: everything. One very nice detail is that there are no reservations for the restaurants. You go when you want, they seat you when there is a table open
Location: it is right across the street from a mall with many shops and rental car agencies.
the grounds are beautiful (but so are the grounds at most resorts), the building is modern and we like the clean modern lines, that's a plus, the food was excellent (most all inclusive resorts have resort food, which can be OK, but mostly you are happy that you are not paying extra for it, but Live Aqua offers a quality dining experience), the beach in front was OK, the gym had the best equipment I've seen in a resort, the music on the grounds was a plus, the bar had top shelf drinks for the asking (I don't blame them for mixing Margaritas with less expensive tequila, but when we asked for the excellent products on the shelf behind the bar they did not hesitate to use them), yet the most important ingredient to the excellent experience we had at Live Aqua is their staff. For example: after the outdoor Italian kitchen had just shut down for the afternoon, I walked up in my wet swim shorts and asked if any of the other eateries could make a pizza. The waiter looked to his chef (who was already working on dinner, sliding octopus into a boiling pot of water), they looked around the kitchen pointed at a few things and then a few seconds later the waiter came out and said that they would have a pizza ready in 15 minutes, and asked if I'd be OK with pepperoni 'cause that was all they had at that point. I tried to excuse myself because they were obviously busy, but "No" was not an option for them. They were going to make me a pizza.

A 5 Star Experience

Posted 27-May-2015
Pros: The excellent service of the hotel staff, the location, and the food.
Cons: It would be great if we had the option with the air conditioning in the room to make it cooler. Drinks could have contained more alcohol.
Location: Shopping (a mall) and a bank within walking distance.
From the moment we pulled up to the hotel we were treated with superior and friendly service. The location is excellent being right on the beach. The food selections at the restaurants on the property and buffet were fabulous. Not to mention the daily barbeques poolside. My husband and I mentioned we were kind of celebrating our anniversary and birthdays. Much to our surprise, the hotel provided us with complimentary champagne and special room decorations to commemorate each event.

Staff engages in bait and switch.

Posted 26-May-2015
Pros: Beautiful and clean property.
Cons: Bait and switch improper. At a minimum Expedia's description regarding room type must be clarified.
Location: Swim with whale sharks and Scuba dive the reef, you won't regret it.
Package purchased through Expedia was vague on room type and hotel ripped us off. Was told room upgrade to the one we purchased was an extra $200 per night.

Engañoso Hotel

Posted 26-May-2015
Pros: No regresaría.
El concepto All Inclusive no significa sacrificar calidad y servicio.

Pros: Food quality, rooms, amenities.
Cons: Better selection of top shelf alcohol (ie. whiskey, scotch)
Location: A little far from downtown Cancun but it's only about a 15 min drive.
Probably the best all-inclusive resort that I have been to in terms of food quality. The hotel facility and rooms were really nice. Overall a top notch hotel and experience. Great hotel for couples looking for a getaway.

Great Hotel

Posted 26-May-2015
Pros: Clean with a great staff
Cons: The activities in the hotel no shows or contest
Location: It was across the street from luxury mall, that mall is a lot larger then it looks, had some good bargains. Para sailing was near by.
Staff was great, the spa is a must and the food was good. What else can I say. We had a great time.

Solid Hotel. Watch out for the creepers

Posted 26-May-2015
Pros: It smelled great. Staff was wonderful. Food, amazing!
Cons: Stop putting rice on the beds. It's cute, but we had to clean it up every night. Update bathrooms to be more user friendly.
Location: Perfect location.
The hotel staff was on point. They really know how to make you feel comfy. The food was AWESOME. Seriously. You should bring lots of American money in $5s and $10s. This is only for the taxi rides. If you don't have it broken down into small currency, you will end up leaving everyone a tip that is way too big. No one has change. The other thing is that the beach sand is more like small broken shells until you get out near the shore, then it gets very soft. Don't count on playing sand volleyball unless you bring water shoes. Do Xcaret, skip the dinner show. It was OK, but the food was way too expensive for what you get and our waiter royally sucked. Try US Travel for all of your transportation. We used them through Entertainment Plus when we got all of our activity tickets. Best money spent! They were always on time, and gave very helpful tips to wherever we were headed to. I also recommend scuba diving. The underwater museum off the coast of Isla Mujeres was beautiful!
