Hotel was nice. Food, service, beach below avg.

Posted 03-May-2015
Pros: Very clean and spacious. Nice pools and entertainment staff. Pool activities. Very good breakfast. Internet worked most of the time.
Cons: They need a non smoking policy. Dinner at the buffet was a joke, especially during seafood night. Specialty restaurant sign up process was poor.
Location: Good location near downtown shopping and entertainment.
The beach area was not very well maintained, lots of sea weed and low tide carved up the beach. We stayed at the Omni last year and the beach was manicured and way better there. However the facility was very nice as this resort was formerly the Hyatt. Service was pretty good except for lunch time at the seafood restaurant by the pool. The wait staff was rude there. I probably would not stay here again because of hit and miss service issues and the below average quality of the food during dinner at all the restaurants. Plus the beach area is below average.

Decent food for a resort!

Posted 03-May-2015
Hi all! I just got back from my trip and had a blast! Here's a few things that will hopefully help you decide on this resort. First of all, let's face it most resort's food is edible but not very good. I was pretty impressed with the food here!!!! The Buffett was good everytime! Even the pizza station by the pools weren't so bad. The best restaurant they have on the resort by far is the Italian place! Oddly, I wasn't impressed at all with the Mexican restaurant. I wish it had basic mexican food like borritos and tacos. Downtown is only a 15 minute walk! It's super close and convenient! I highly recommend staying here!

Great All Inclusive Option for the price

Posted 30-Apr-2015
Pros: Great location, right on the beach, nice rooms.
Cons: A little more enforcement of time that the cabana huts around the adult pool go unused. Seemed like half of them were reserved and never used.
Location: Just a mile or two North is a shopping mall and nice little flea market.
We really enjoyed out stay. The beach is beautiful and the hotel is well maintained with a very nice staff. As a warning, be ready to say no to all of the attempts by excursion companies to get you to hear their spiel, etc. We just said "no" or "maybe later", and that just saved us more time to do other things. The hotel also does a good job of trying to give you more of a variety for dinner. Breakfast and lunch were pretty much the same everyday, but each night, dinner was different, and they have 3 additional restaurants to eat at (reservation required). Also, if you really get sick of the same-old-same-old, since this hotel was cheaper than other options, we had no problem heading down the road to eat one night. Also, just to the north is some good shopping (be ready to be REALLY bombarded). But it was just a 20 minute walk or 5 minute bus ride. As a heads up - the little cabana huts are also really nice, but you need to get out EARLY to reserve one. At least before 7:00 am.

Our 6th all-inclusive trip to Cancun

Posted 30-Apr-2015
First this is my 6th different resort. We arrived Thursday at 1330, we used Cancun shuttle, there was only one person to check us in. MAIN BUILDING. The resort was well kept and clean, some signs of aging. There are four different room buildings. The main had the indoor BAR, quite small but had some sports playing on a tv. You will make your dinner reservations here. the SNACK BAR that has ice cream, pastries, cappuccino, and sandwiches at night until 11pm, ice creams they were so good. The BUFFET has all three meals with coorisponding times. I was quite surprised at the quality of the food. The omelet bar and pasta bar were amazing for a buffet. Oh, at breakfast just ask youserver for bacon. The oriental restaurant, the food was great, small portions, 2.5 hours in and we just got our main meal. We finally got tired of waiting for desert and left and went to the buffet... MAIN POOL, more kids, activities, 80's remixed music, hammocks, PIZZA CORNER &GARDEN SNACK area was good. ADULT POOL. AMAZING views, get up early 6am to get a good Bali bed. Sergio was amazing. ITALIAN RESTAURANT, we ate there 4 nights. Get the pasta, calzone, tenderloin,& lasagna. Above the Italian place is the out door rooftop bar, great views, awful music. Being your own party. But, Sergio was up there so drinks rocked. ROOM. Great view, normal for all-inclusive, clean, bed were firm but I slept like a baby. I will try a different hotel next time. INTERNET, SPOTTY, SLOW BUT FREE

Nice Hotel, not a lot of variety of food.

Posted 29-Apr-2015
Pros: The cleaning ladies provided an above and beyond service. Make sure you tip them well. Photographer maria = excellent and fun!
Cons: Bathrooms seemed a bit outdated and poor lighting in the shower area. The asian restaurant had a typo on a dish "Undon" = udon. please cater big group
When i arrived I was not greeted by staff or given a refreshment drink as I noticed was provided to other vacationers that arrived after me. The buffet had a small variety of selection of foods, each day was different. The additional restaurants were mostly slow in service and the restaurants were only able to sit my large group of 9 together once when the restaurants was pretty much empty. I didn't see a point in making a reservation when they tell us we can sit together and when we get to the restaurant they tell us its not possible. The one time they did we had to beg so hard and it was our last day in the resort. The beaches had really fine sand which was enjoyable and the main pools were full of activities and the staff running the activities did an excellent job. I had personal photos and group photos done with the photographer maria, she was very fun and listened to the kind of pictures we wanted to take. I made the effort to check out the sister resort park royal. They had a nicer lobby, however the pools were much smaller. I did not eat at the buffet or restaurants there but I can only assume it would be the same. I have been to mexico several times and I was disappointed with the food at this resort. I went with a lot of first timers visiting mexico this trip and they mentioned the that the variety of food was disappointing as well. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to first time mexico vacation individuals.

Great location. Friendly staff. Room was clean. Food was good but expected more from the restaurants that you had to make reservations for. Overall a great resort.

Second stay even better

Posted 29-Apr-2015
This is our second time staying at the Grand Park Royal. The staff is wonderful. The hotel is extremely clean. The buffet food breakfast is good and dinner is okay. I recommend going to the Italian and Asian restaurant. The food is very good. Will definitely stay there again. We had tons of fun at the Tikii bar.

Went for a honeymoon, and was upgraded to an awesome suit. Amazing hotel for couples - lots of great facilities and restaurants, close to city attractions, etc. For families with small children - notice most restaurants don't allow kids under 12, so you mostly have to use the main buffet restaurant (which is great, but might give you a feeling of missing out).
